I'm a little confused as far as wedding attire goes and hoping you ladies & gents can help me out. We went to Men's warehouse yesterday so my FH could look at suits and get suits ordered and out of the way. So he decided on a dark grey tux and then we had to pick everything else, including shirt color. I guess I always assumed that he would be in a white shirt but they said he needs to match me so he needs to wear an ivory shirt. Just looking at the color of the ivory shirt I Immediately didn't like how it looked, it just looked dirty to me. Like it was washed in brown water or something. Of course this is just looking at the shirt as they didn't have him try anything on and he wasn't actually wearing it, is this the norm? I'm hoping it will look way better when he is wearing everything else and I'm just over reacting! If I wear ivory does he have to too? They said if he doesn't wear ivory it won't look right. does anyone have any experience with this and should we match? Thanks!!

We went to men's wearhouse and they didn't say anything about him matching my ivory dress. I agree with PP that an ivory dress is not the same as an ivory shirt. We are going with the dark grey suit and a white shirt. He would look odd next to the GMs if he has an ivory shirt and they have white.

@melanie - yes, we went to MW. Maybe it was our location, but they weren't pushy or obnoxious. Our location was originally a small tux shop that has been bought out by MW - but they retained the same staff.

They did ask some specific questions about what kind of wedding/look we were going for, and they pointed out the differences between the different types of tuxes and showed us what the white versus ivory looked like. But overall, they were great to work with.

When we ordered my FH outfit they also said he needed an ivory shirt because I had an ivory dress. I think it's personal opinion honestly. We went with the ivory but it wasn't drastically different from the white and didn't look dirty as you say. It's your wedding do what you want.

My dress is ivory and my FH is wearing a white shirt with a purple tie to match the sash on my dress and the groomsmen are wearing white shirts with wisteria colored ties.
