Grooms bachelor party weekend before wedding

Haleigh, on February 20, 2018 at 11:55 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 15
Okay so this is a lot of venting and a lot of genuine despair regarding my fiances brother (his best man) throwing his bachelor party THE WEEKEND before the wedding. We are getting married May 5th. In addition to my concern with things getting too rowdy, as they sometimes do, and him coming back
injured, my fiancé is notorious for getting drunk and losing things (phones, wallets, glasses, ID's). They are going to rocky point Mexico, or somewhere in that vicinity and from what I'm reading you have to have a passport. We just got our passports to go to Negril Jamaica for our honeymoon and leave the Monday following our wedding. If he loses his passport that will jeapordize that trip and the$ 5,000 price tag that went along with it. I am so stressed and can't help but be super pissed off at his brother for doing that in the first place. Please give me some advice ladies I am physically sick!

This sounds like more of an issue with your fiance than his brother /best man.

Your fiance needs to be a big boy and understand that he needs to not get drunk to the point where he is getting injured or losing his important personal property.

I agree. He's the only one who can prevent any of that.

You gals are right. I shouldn't be so angry with his brother. I have voiced this to my fiancé and he just assures me that it will be fine. Although his track record has made me worried in the first place! I just looked up if he would get a passport card to take to Mexico to leave his passport book at home. Ugh seriously though when he does drink sometimes things just get too crazy!

Have you talked to your FH yet about how you feel? as far as the passport, once he's in the country, he doesn't really need to carry it around with him. You should encourage him to leave it in his suitcase when he goes out. Also, let him know that you are worried about him getting hurt and to not take any unnecessary risks. I would say approach the conversation with general concern about his well being, so he doesn't feel like you are nagging him or discouraging him from having a fun time. Just remind him that you have a big day coming up the following week and it would be great if you didn't have hospital visits on top of it.

Yeah I have, and he tried to make me feel better by saying it would all be fine. Luckily they're only going for Friday and Saturday night and come back Sunday. So at least it's only 2 days I need to worry about. Im going to talk to
him again tonight just because it's on my mind. Maybe remind him about the time he fell and needed stictches by his eye or remind him of all the crap he's lost. Haha. Tell him to reel it in a little for this weekend.

It's not unusual to have a bachelor party the weekend before the wedding, especially if there are people coming from out of town.

Anyone old enough to get married, needs to be mature enough to not get blathered when they go out to drink. Your FI is in control of how much he drinks. He is also in conrol of keeping his passport locked in the room safe while he is in Mexico,

To hedge your bets, you can also take pictures of his passport to speed up an expedited replacement if he does lose it.

He will need the passport to get back into the US so he will have a bigger problem than the honeymoon if he loses it. You should talk to him about your concerns.

I just did, thank you guys!! I was just having a major anxiety attack! You can get a passport card for $55 for travel to Mexico. Going to get that next week and that way he can leave the book at home. And then I told him that now that that's taken care of I really want to talk to you about making sure you don't get carried away and put yourself in danger. I appreciate you guys! I didn't mean to sound like some selfish bridezilla, but planning for a year and spending so much money you want things to be perfect and would hate for one stupid weekend of booze to ruin anything.

You can only use the passport card if they're traveling via land (driving) or sea. If they're flying, he needs an actual passport book.

You don't sound selfish. But this is possibly a symptom of possibly a larger problem. Someone that regularly drinks to the point that they get hurt etc sounds like it can become a huge point of contention for you guys as a couple.

It is also worth noting that should he be driving to Mexico but be injured or become ill and need to fly home, he would need his passport. He would not be able to re-enter the US by plane with only a passport card.

He will be driving. And that's the thing he doesn't drink often so when it's a ghoup
of friends and a party atmosphere he goes all out! Lol
