Is anyone planning on having a groom's cake? Do you think it's worth the money?

Honestly, I don't think so. I don't think they're really much of a thing anymore. I think we're traditionally served at the rehearsal dinner. If you don't want one, I don't think anyone would notice.

Do you want extra cake? If yes, do a groom's cake. If not, it's a total waste of money.

We are having one! My fiancée is very into Star Wars, so we’re finding small ways to incorporate that without it making a “Star Wars wedding.” (Nothing wrong with that, it’s just not my style 😆) So the grooms cake will be star wars themed.

I've been to over 50 weddings and I've never seen a groom's cake before. So personally I would never notice if this was skipped

It’s common in the South. Other parts of the country tend to skip it. Go for it if you want something specific to the groom and you want extra cake.

It's definitely optional. Traditionally, the wedding cake is the bride's cake, so this was a way for the groom to have his personality shown at the wedding as well. Lots of people get them in crazy designs, but our's was just a sheet cake with H's alma mater logo on it. It was also carrot cake, which I detest and did not want anywhere near the wedding cake. The groom's cake was set out next to the wedding cake on its own table. Lots of people have them for the rehearsal dinner though so they don't have 2 cakes at the wedding.

We are skipping. I actually gave him the choice if he wanted to do it and he wanted to spend the money elsewhere.

We are skipping it. Total waste of money in my book, money that can be used elsewhere.

I agree with everyone else. I don't think there's any point in it unless your FH really wants one. You're already probably spending a good amount of money on the wedding cake so why spend even more on cake that will probably go to waste

Not necessary to have one! FH and I don't like icing, so he's not even sure he wants one!

We're doing rehearsal cocktails instead of dinner so I think a groom's cake would be a good addition! He's pretty jazzed about it lol

We're sort of doing it, but instead of a cake it will be cupcakes. So groom's cupcakes?

Like most of the others said, we’re skipping it. We don’t want one or need one, our wedding cake will be enough so why spend the extra cash.

Skipped it. Since it’s news to me I have never heard of that. We agreed on the wedding cake. I can just make him a cake (which I did for his birthday) our party was later than our wedding ceremony.

One of my bridesmaids sent me a picture of a superhero-themed groom's cake. My fiance is a huge superhero fan. We haven't discussed a groom's cake in great length, but I have no doubt he would love it! Maybe I'll say something to the groomsmen to work on that.

We're having one! Traditionally it's served at the rehearsal dinner so that's where we're serving ours. We're in the South so most people we know have them.
