Groomsman Tuxedo Vent

Sarah, on July 26, 2019 at 12:45 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12
So my FH told me today that one of his five groomsmen is unable to wear the shoes that go with the tuxedo rental because he had a foot operation and the height doesn’t work for him. He’s going to attempt to find something close. Is it horrible that I’m kinda frustrated that it will look awful in our pictures if one guy has different shoes than the five others? Or do you think that’s the kind of thing nobody will notice? I’m a huge perfectionist so I know that’s he first thing I’ll see when I look at my pictures of the bridal party.

How are they all going to have the same shoes?
Our wedding party was just told to wear black dress shoes because they already all own them.

I really wouldn't be worried about this. Most people probably won't even notice Smiley smile

As a person who has foot issues yes this is horrible. You need to be understanding that it is not something they are choosing to do because they want to. I have had three foot surgeries and I have high arches. I cant wear just any shoe. If i wear certain shoes I am either in a large amount of pain or I can aggravate old injuries further. If I was in a wedding party and I was required to wear a certain type of shoe for looks I would drop out. This is in fact something I almost had to do last year and it really made me angry that the issue was over shoes. (She wanted us to buy a pair of shoes off of amazon that were very narrow and I can’t wear narrow shoes at all) Be understanding that it is not his fault and accept it that way. Would you want be the reason he is uncomfortable the entire wedding? Or even create the issue in the first place? Coming from personal experience I really hope you choose to just let him choose his own shoe.

This is one of those things that you can't really be mad about unfortunately. His health, comfort, and wellbeing are more important than matching shoes in your pictures. As long as they are the same color and a similar style, it shouldn't be too obvious.

So long as they're the same colour and similar style you won't notice. Hell, we asked my husband's groomsmen to wear black suits as they both already had them; they weren't identical but you don't notice in photos at all.

He literally had an operation and you're worried about how it'll look? I think you're being a bit dramatic. If they're all the same color nobody will notice except you. You should be glad he's not in a cast or boot.

Your pictures should not be worth more to you than your groomsman being comfortable after an operation. I had surgery on my leg prior to a wedding and was in a walking boot. The bride didn't even think twice about it. She wanted me there and didn't care how the boot would look in pictures, because the pictures are of the amazing day... memories of friendships and a start of something new with someone you love. If I found out she was upset like this, I would reevaluate the friendship with her. I'm not trying to be rude to you, but you really need to look at it that way, rather than friends being props in a perfect picture.

Thanks everyone! Yes, they come with the tuxedo rental. Definitely isn’t as big of a deal as I original thought. Probably just a little extra frustrated because this particular groomsman has been pretty unreliable all along and has caused me and FH nothing but stress. We had to continuously remind him to get fitted for his tuxedo long after everyone else already went and FH is pretty sure we’ll end up paying for the rental. Definitely not expecting him to attempt to find a similar pair.
