Groomsmen Winter Attire

Maddy, on March 31, 2020 at 10:44 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5
So this is my ideal groomsmen attire and what my fiancé and I agreed on Groomsmen Winter Attire 1
but we are getting married 12.12.2020 in the Midwest. Typically there isn’t snow yet by then, but it changes year to year, as does the temp. Is this attire too summery for a winter wedding? I don’t know what else to do and I don’t want to make them wear all suits. Plus it will be all indoors ceremony and reception. Thoughts?

I think that's fine since you're having it indoors. it's a cute look

The photo inspiration you posted definitely looks more like a spring or summer wedding than a winter wedding in my opinion. I would only do this in the winter if you wedding is 100% indoors. Is your ceremony and reception at the same location? If not then your groomsmen are going to have to go outside to travel between the two locations and it could be very cold which might make them uncomfortable. Two others issues would be if you plan on having any photos taken outside or a grand exit at the end of night that is outdoors. Our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception were all indoors. Our wedding was in July on one of the hottest days of the year. My husband wanted photos of his groomsmen/groomswoman and him outside. They picked places with a lot of shelter from the sun because the groomsmen and him were in full tuxes and the grooomswoman was in a long gown. I also wanted photos of my bridesmaids, bride's man and I outside. Because we did separate photos of the bridal party before our first look the photographers had to make sure my husband and I wouldn't accidentally see each other when these photos were been taken so there were limited places for outdoor photos. That meant that the outdoor photos with my bridesmaids and bride's man were directly in the sun. We ended up with only two outdoor photos with them because it was just too hot. The rest of my photos with my bridesmaids/bride's man were taken within the hotel (our venue). My recommendation if you want any photos taken outside would be to have the guys rent the full tuxes/suits so they can wear the jackets outside then have additional photos taken inside without the jackets this way they can still be warm and you can still get the look you want.

The ceremony and reception are in the same place. I really wanted to avoid suits/tuxes because all of our groomsmen are either in college or will be 6 months out of college, so none of them have a lot of money to spend on suits/tuxes.

Are you planning on having outdoor photos? If so, they will really need a jacket of some kind in the event it is cold and/or there is snow. I would have your fiance talk to the guys to find out what their budget in order to determine an appropriate cost. I did a quick search on Macy's and they have a jacket and pants deal for $89.99. The guys would need dress shirts, ties, shoes and suspenders. I think most guys already own white dress shirts so they probably wouldn't need to buy new ones. Here is the link for the suits at Macy's https://www.macys.com/shop/product/alfani-mens-traveler-solid-classic-fit-suit-separates-created-for-macys?ID=2638221&CategoryID=17788&isDlp=true&isDlp=true&swatchColor=Charcoal. I also know Black Tux which is an online retailer has suits that they can rent for $110 which is fairly inexpensive for a wedding. Nordstrom partners with them for fittings.

Have you considered this look with open button cardigans? Haggar would have some good options that are always dirt cheap on black friday and it would make for some cool pictures, especially if the girls are going to have wraps or something. This one here on Old Navy's website would work well and comes in multiple colors.
