Groomsmen with No bridesmaids

Niki, on August 28, 2021 at 9:46 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8
My Fiancé has a few guy friends/ family members that he really wants to stand with him during the ceremony. He has already asked a few and they have accepted. I think it's great that he wants to include the people close to him doesn't have to stand up there alone. But, I however don't have anyone to ask. My sister went MIA about a year ago and doesn't even know I'm engaged. I don't have any close girlfriends or guy friends and no one in my family to ask. I don't want to stand up at the alter by myself but I also don't want to ask anyone to be a bridesmaids just so I have people up there with me plus they would have the expense of dresses, etc. My mom is going to help me dress shop but she will be helping with wedding stuff while I will have to get ready for the actual wedding alone. This is weighing down on me heavily to the point where I'm not even excited to continue planning. We have set deposits already so we can't jump ship and change plans. What advice do you guys have for me? This is suppose to be an exciting and special day but I cannot hell but feeling sad when I think about it.

I'm wondering if you could ask some of the groom's friends to stand on your side with you? It's nontraditional but there's nothing wrong with that. I think it would be a beautiful way of your FH and his friends to show their love and support for you. This is your day and a day to celebrate your new life together. Take what make you sad and turn it into something hopeful for the future.

What about asking your mom. Yes my mom had a lot to do for the wedding but she was still super honored to be my MOH. And what about his mother do you have a good relationship with her? You don't have to have anyone stand next to you but like someone else suggests you can have half of his groomsmen stand next to you since they are in support of your marriage.

Do you have anyone you feel close enough with to have them in the wedding? Grandparents, cousins, work friends, his family, his friends girlfriends? Like I said before you absolutely don't have to have anyone stand up for you at the wedding and if you don't feel close enough to anyone to have them be apart of your day then I wouldn't suggest asking people just for the sake of having people stand next to you. I'd like I said just have half of his guys stand on your side if that would make you feel comfortable.

I would advise this! Just spread the people honour around you or have them sit for the ceremony.

I didn't even think about asking my mom. I know she would love that thank you! Unfortunately my fiancé's mother is not in the picture. But i do like the idea of kind of sharing the groomsmen between both sides!

Yes to this, if you are close to your mom have her with you! Or your dad or your grandma or anyone you want! Following traditions is optional Smiley smile
