Groupon for Photo booth?

WindyCityBride2015, on January 6, 2015 at 4:22 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 9

I would love to have a photo booth at our wedding, but we are really pressed with our budget. So, it will be a last minute add-on if we have the money when it gets closer. With that being said, I see a TON of groupons for photo booth rentals for weddings- like 200-500$ range, which is a lot cheaper than the regular 500-100 price tag. Has anyone used a groupon for their wedding or plan to? If not, this might be a heads-up for those of you who are interested in saving some money on one.

So, I originally wanted a photobooth, but once I realized I was going to have to do some serious restructuring to my budget and I haven't even gotten majors like my dress or the flowers yet I decided against it. I did look at the Groupons and when I googled the companies separately...the reviews were AWFUL and a lot were specifically people who had gotten the Groupon for their wedding. I would really be careful if you choose to go that route...I hate to see when people post and they are disappointed with services they paid for!

If you do this I would recommend reading reviews for the company first. Sometimes great companies use Groupon to generate new business, I i have had some really good Groupon experiences. But I have found that many of the companies that use Groupon for promotion are desperate for new customers for a reason. These companies often are poorly run, offer poor customer service or a bad product. I would hate for you to get a photobooth from a bad company and have a awful experience just to save a little bit of one. Another tactic I have seen a lot on groupon is that there are a lot of add-ons that aren't included in the groupon, that end up costing you a lot more. It may be a good deal but do your research first; check the company out and read the fine print.

We found a great deal then contacted the company and asked them to honor the deal without going through groupon. Groupon takes a percentage so we negotiated with them. They're a well known company and have a good reputation.

My bff got a groupon photobooth for her wedding but they're not getting married until October so I don't know yet how it will turn out! lol. I would research the company and look up reviews online separately from groupon for any company on there. If those are good, I would go ahead with it.

    I have two stories:

1.) My BFF got married in 2013 in Iowa. Got a photobooth deal for $350 from Group On. Turned out great. Booth was super fun, showed up on time with attendant and props. Great deal.

2.) A friend tried to get a photobooth for her wedding and bought a Group On deal for about $300. After all the surcharges for travel, weekend fees, extras added, it became about $700 for what I would consider the "basics".

My advice, read the fine print. Call the companies for all the details before purchasing on Group On and check availability and added fees. $700 is still an alright deal.

I got my photo booth from Groupon, and did what champagne did. I researched the company and all the reviews were good. My wedding is in April so fingers crossed Smiley smile

I thought about this, but then Googled the company and read horror story after horror story.

I was able to negotiate a photo booth on my own, $450 for 3 hours with extras in South Florida. Try The Knot, they let you weed out vendors based on price.
