Growing out hair?

Kylie, on September 10, 2018 at 8:53 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 21

Hi loves!

So after chopping off a lot of my hair earlier this year, it's about halfway between my chin & my shoulders right now & I'd really like to grow it out long enough in the next year & a half to be able to put it in a nice updo. Anyone grow out their hair for their wedding? What's your secret?

Drink plenty of water, eat healthy and avoid flat irons, blow drying, pool water. Try to keep it as healthy and natural as possible so it can grow. I like to braid my hair at night so it’s not all over place and causes less breakage. Some ppl drink biotin pills, but I take a multi vitamin and try my best to follow what I mentioned and my hair grew

I have a thyroid problem so even more difficult to grow out my hair but I swear by Redken Extreme and It’s a 10. I never before used salon grade hair products but I really noticed a difference. My hair was much healthier and therefore was able to grow longer.
    Good luck!

I started taking hair skin and nail gummy vitamins and that helped a lot. I cant tell you exactly how much it made my hair grow, but it did help.

Just a side note, this didn't happen to me but I was talking to my coworker about hair skin and nail vitamins and she said that she had taken them and when she did, it made allllll of her hair grow fast, least of all on her head. Lol I didnt have this issue and I didnt notice any additional hair growth while taking it but I've since stopped talking them because my hair is long and annoying lol. Cant wait to cut it after my wedding!! 60 days ...

Hi Kylie! The others give some great advice here. Eating healthy foods, conscientiously drinking water, avoiding hair-damaging chemicals and heated products (curling irons, etc.), taking hair/skin/nails vitamins like biotin, which can also be found in most multi-vitamins, are all good tactics for growing out your hair. This article had some other helpful tips, too .

Biotin, water, It's a 10, avoiding heating products and making sure to use protection when you do have to use them, wear your hair down as often as possible.

Any recommendations for protection when you do have to use heat? It's already starting to cool off significantly here, so I actually do have to blow dry my hair before I leave the house most days.

It's a 10 works well for heat protection, along with various other things. I've also heard great things about Eva NYC, but haven't used it myself.

    Eva NYC

    It's a 10

I think the biggest key is to treat your hair good! stop using heat, and do hair masks occasionally! if you braid/pony tail it, try to keep it loose, or use the spiral hair ties that won't pull your hair as much!

i noticed A HUGE different in growing time when i stopped using heat everyday, (i used it maybe once a week- once every two weeks) and it started growing like a weed!

I've been meaning to try a hair mask! I've never done one. Do you have one you would recommend?

Almonds! Healthy fats and protein seem to help. And also avoiding heat, etc as others have suggested!

I am! I feel like my hair grew so much the first 6 months and then just stopped 🙄 I have curly hair though so it always takes even longer to notice a difference. Make sure to go in for a trim every 3-4 months to freshen it up and keep it growing healthily

Hi Kylie! I've used hair skin and nails vitamins before to grow out my hair, and they really work! Also, try your best not to use heat on your hair and make sure that you're drinking tons of water! I think you have enough time to grow out your hair before your wedding! Did you have a specific hairstyle in mind you're trying to achieve?

I'm growing mine out. I read that hair only grows 6 inches a year, so I'm hoping for a little more. I bought a silk pillowcase to sleep on, I take vitamins for hair/skin/nail health, I'm using Ovation Cell Therapy shampoo/treatment/conditioner, I use a leave in conditioner & heat protectant, and I bought a nice ceramic blow dryer (I've stopped using a straightener or curling iron). I hope it helps! I also get trims every 6 weeks and have stopped coloring it.

The best thing you can do is make sure you are on your trims. I cut my hair then my fiancé proposed. My wedding is only 7 months away. My hair is a little past my shoulders now. You will grow about 6 inches in a year. That will be plenty of hair to do an Updo.

i don’t think there is anything that is proven to work. I wouldn’t spend the money, just do what you normally do.

Castor oil and 100% pure cold press coconut oil that’s what I’ve used on my hair and daughters hair it’s grown a lot , i usually rub the oil all over my scalp a day before washing it and leave it on overnight ! I only wash my hair once a week and I haven’t been trimming or dying it every 6 weeks but every 12 weeks instead , I also use garnier fruits pure aloe shampoo and conditioner !

I take my shower at night and let my hair air dry as often as I can.

    Take Biotin daily.

Drink milk. Cows milk. None of that imitation nut juice. (yes, it really does help)

Use salon grade products (I like Pureology Shampoo & conditioner, Amika The Wizard for detangling/thermal protection)

After I get out of the shower, I put a little dab of leave in conditioner on the ends, Chihstai No 12. It works miracles.

    Sleep on a silk pillowcase

Put my hair on top of my head in a sleep scrunchi so it's not a tangled mess when I wake up in the AM.

All of this is not cheap, but it has helped me to grow long, healthy hair. My colorist says she has never seen hair as healthy as mine that gets colored on a regular basis.

Also, I would watch the trims. Unless you have split ends or damaged hair, you don't need to cut it that often. My old stylist used to "trim" my hair every 6 weeks when I went in. Told me that was the key to getting it to grow. It stayed one length for years, even though she knew I wanted it longer. I could not get it to grow. When I changed stylists, she said I was cutting it too often. It's grown 2 inches in a few months and continues to grow and be happy.
