Guest Book Pens

Chels Ann, on December 17, 2013 at 8:57 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8

We did a photo guest book off of Shutterfly. I am nervous about pen smears. Anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone tried "Slick Writers"?

Any suggestions or information on "Slick Writers" would be great!

Thanks

I bought a non smear photo safe pen from hobby lobby for ours and then forgot to give it to the venue so they could put it with the book Smiley sad we also used a photo book from shutterfly and surprisingly, a regular ball point pen didn't smear.

I got a guest book from shutterfly too and didn't even think of pens. But Abbiell has a good idea. Make sure that the pen is "Acid-Free" and "Archival." Most sharpies are NOT archival. So don't use them. This ensures that the signatures will stay nice and not ruin your books or eventually fade/bleed. You can get these pens at any craft store.

I am not doing a traditional guest book. I stained a wooden letter a dark color and then added a gloss coat. Our guests will be signing it with silver sharpies.

Local craft stores have special pens for photo paper that do not bleed or smear. We got 3 pens at $2.50 a piece. I don't know what brand we purchased but they worked out perfect!

When you ask that question of Shutterfly, they recommend ballpoint pens. I think it's a good way to go because there isn't all that extra ink that gunks up the tip and smears.

I'm not doing a traditional guest book, I'm doing a finger print tree with a regular ball point pen signature above it, i thought it was cute. (:
