Guest book signing

Amoreena , on February 18, 2019 at 4:50 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10
Hello! My FH and I aren’t doing the traditional guest book signing. We found this idea on Pinterest and got something similar but my question is, how do I word a sighn to put on the side of it at our reception for my guests to know to sighn it. My first idea was “please sighn our guest book wood.” Yikes sounds horrible out loud 😂 help!!! I have 5 weeks!!! I’m brain dead now

You don’t need a sign or anything people know you would like your guest book signed. If you’re wanting one there’s some cute wordings on google and pinterest

When you set something on a table with a pen/marker/paint marker, people generally know you want them to sign it, they don’t need to be told. If you really feel the need to give them directions “please sign our guest book” is sufficient.

People all know what to do. Depending upon your group, they either will sign it or not, a sign does not make a difference . We were now going to have a book or signing board, but friends made up one for us, poster size on a backing, nearly 1/3 of it a blowup of a nice picture of us. But what the heck do you do with an 18"x24 framed pic of yourselves, with signatures? We have at least one nice picture of every single guest in an album and on disk. And we checked off who attended, on our master spread sheet of guest list/ thank you written for gifts, etc. Ours sat on the closet floor, wrapped, 18 months til we moved, then we threw it out. I know lots of people do a book or board. Except one MOB, I have never seen one in anyone's home. And when you mention them, people say, why bother? Our _____ insisted we have one, but what do you do with a bunch of signatures? So, thrown or packed away.

I was thinking of doing a similar idea, but just to parrot what other people said: people will know what to do; plus, it's okay to say sign our guestbook when it isn't technically a book.
Also, generally certain people will be there early such as parent's and the wedding parties. Have them sign it earlier so that when people arrive they will see names are already on it and pens near by and get the idea.

It would t be just signatures they would write a nice note on them and the purpose of this board is to hang it up so it’s not collecting dust like a regular guest book

Maybe a sign that says "share your congratulations and well wishes for the Mr. and Mrs."

Or, maybe have some of your bridal party sign before guests arrive so it will be obvious to sign.

If you want a sign, I’ve seen ones that say “please sign our guest board”. I plan on making a similar one for our wedding. And I like the idea of having bridal party sign it first
