Guest Books

I chose to have a guest book, but something I can put up on the wall. I ordered mine from etsy, something untraditional and different. Of course customized with our name and date

We are skipping it and based on the last few wedding we attended, it's not common anymore. Everytime there's one, many guests don't sign it anyway.

However, many WW members say they planned/are planning to do a photos guest book/photobooths pics guest book as an alteenative.

Last year at my friend’s wedding, she had a book with blank pages, a Polaroid camera, plenty of film, marker pens and the little corners that you stick on the paper to hold the photos in place. Guests took a photo of themselves, put it in the book and wrote a message. It was a really cute idea! It definitely got used/filled out. We will be doing that same idea at our wedding in July! 😃 I recommend it. I think it will be fun to open it back up down the road, look at the photos and see what they wrote.

We skipped it, and have no regrets! Like PP said, most people don't sign it anyway.


Almost everyone will give a card, which essentially is the same thing as having a guest book. You can store the cards or look up a bunch of projects to use them for. People already spent time writing the card, why make them sign something else too?

We also got a sign off of Etsy custom-made since we ended up having room in the budget leftover. It’s a beautiful tree where everyone is supposed to sign a leaf on it. We had good success with people signing the photo-matte board at our couples shower, so we are confident people will sign at the wedding as well. We had a sign made that tells them to sign a leaf on the tree, and we will have parents and wedding party sign at the Rehearsal Dinner so that guests can see how it’s supposed to be done as well.

View Quoted Comment Thanks! Yeah I’ve seen the same trend. Like the last wedding we went to, the guest book had only been signed with signatures and congratulations and nothing actually meaningful so it seems like just one more thing to keep in storage.

We are having guest sign a custom made letter of our last name. We will hang it in our workout room.

I reeeeally don't want to do a traditional guest book. People don't sign, you can't read some peoples' handwriting, and most people are trying to rush through to get in and avoid holding up the line, so they aren't going to leave a meaningful message. I doubt I'd look back at it either. I was thinking either a polaroid guest book so it's more like looking back at a photo album or some kind of sign/ big initial that we could hang on the wall somewhere.

I much prefer something where you can display it later. that's what i did. we just took some canvases and people put their print on it like art. we display it in our bedrooms

otherwise most people don't actually look back at the guest book anywhere.
