Guest count

Yasmine, on October 30, 2020 at 8:49 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 84

What was/is everyones guest count? Just curious to see the different sized weddings.

Our minimony was 35 of our closest family and friends. For our big wedding March 2021 our guest count right now is around 110 but we are trying to get it down to 80 just in case COVID makes us change it.

What was/is yours?

Ours is 120 max. I think we'll end up with somewhere between 100-120 (or if COVID is still an issue in 2022, probably between 75-100).

Our guest count currently stands at 175. We are assuming about 25 people will say no and end up with 150. We are shooting for a 2022 wedding so hopefully COVID has passed. I don't know who we would cut if we had to, its almost all family. We both have pretty large families.

Yeah our venue told us that right now the current number allowed is 80 so we are trying to at least narrow down to that.

Hopefully COVID will be more under control so you won't even have to think about making cuts!

That makes sense! At least you still have some time before March, plenty of time for things to change. Hopefully that guest count restriction will be a little more lenient by then.

Married before the virus, and when the economy was booming, so it was possible to work a second job to Pay For It! 170 came, 5 declined.

Ours was 150 but we downsized it to 50 and changed our entire plan (thanks Covid). We ended up having 45 and it was perfect.

We actually were fortunate enough to have ordered the save the dates but I decided to delay sending them out (bc of Covid) so they actually never were notified!
People I’ve talked to who would’ve been invited if it weren’t so small we’re very gracious and understanding.

Though I do not mean to deceive. We planned during a 5 month engagement. And never sent Dave the Dates, we did it the old fashioned way and called or talked to those we knew needed advance notice. Especially as hubby's family run many small businesses, one of the has to always be in the store or on site. So when we made calls, I think 22 in his family, and 3 of my friends in medical internships or the army, said do not send us an invitation, because 3 months from now on your wedding, I will be cross the country, or the one keeping the business open. So we never sent invitations at all to those people. 25 invites, 40 with SO, never invited because could not come, 5 declines.

It very definitely was a plus to have yes for sure, maybe, and definitely no lists after calling. And not have to question them. Only 15 were ever up in the air maybe, and 5 were the eventual declines.

I did the same thing. Bought the save the dates but did not send them. They had been sitting on my dining room table since April. It was a blessing in disguise since we went from a 250 person wedding to a 15 person one. Lol! My sister found a cute way to modify them so we can use them as invitations to the livestream portion of our wedding. The wedding is in January so we’ll be sending them out soon!

OMG thats a HUGE cut. Is there a reason you went down to only 15 from that many?
