Guest list grew!

Lynne, on January 27, 2022 at 1:11 PM Posted in Planning 0 14
I thought I had maybe 75 people in total. I was off! It's actually closer to 100 people. Luckily, our budget is a little bigger than originally thought. So that helps. I know not everyone will attend, but I really hope the guests that say yes will actually arrive. Don't want to order too much food.

Has anyone else had the guest list grow?

That's happening to us in the past few months. Our guest list has grown by about 10 because once lockdown ended, everyone went out and got significant others. LOL.

Our guest list dropped from what it was originally planned to be. But save the dates have not gone out yet so there are no repercussions of not inviting someone who received a save the date.

If you have accurate rsvps and utilize the week before the reply due date and the deadline for the headcount to the caterer to get in touch with anyone who didn’t rsvp on time, you will not order too much food and caterers are professionals who know how to make it happen.

That's good to know. Our wedding is in August this year, so our save the dates went out. I will be sending out the invites in May or June.

Take your wedding day and work back 6-8 weeks which is when to send invitations. For the first weekend in August, they would be sent the 3rd week of June with rsvps due back at 3 weeks before the wedding. If you send them earlier, guests will lose and forget the information and think you are B listing.

This exact thing happened to me! We had been telling vendors “we’re looking at like 75-80 people” we just sat down with our guest list and we’re at 100 people 🤦🏽‍♀️ Whatever I know some of them won’t come. It’s an election year and I’m sending STDs & invitations to some people as a kind gesture. lol

Thank you for that. I was thinking between the middle to the end of May.

It can be. I’m planning for about 95. Just because I KNOW 1 family isn’t coming but they still get a STD and invite.

Just a cautionary note to always plan on 100% attendance, so don't invite over the venue capacity. Also remember to include vendors in the head count.

    Happy planning!

    That's what I did. I know at least 10 won't be there.

Oh good, lots of room then! I kind of add that note generally for anyone that is reading the thread as well. I have seen a few wedding couples planning to invite over capacity, which is stressful!
