Guest lodging

Erica, on February 2, 2020 at 12:34 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5
We are having a 3 day wedding at an Adirondack NY lodge. The venue has private cabins for 32 guests. My fiancé and I are wondering if people would like to stay in the cabins should they pay for their stay or should we pay for their stay? We are going back and forth on it. He thinks we should pay for everyone. I’ve personally been to a lot of weddings and whether I stay on site or at a hotel I’ve always paid for my stay. There is also a hotel 10 miles away people will be staying. My fiancé says we have to pay for the hotel rooms too. How do you feel about this situation? Thanks!

I’ve been to many weddings where I have had to stay at a hotel as part of the bridal party and I’ve always paid for my own room. I’ve never heard of the bride and groom paying for accommodations.

I think most people would expect to pay for their own hotel rooms. But if you do decide to pay for one hotel I would think you would need to pay for both hotels. I think it may be rude if you only pay for some and not all. But personally I wouldn't pay for everyone's hotel, I would have them pay for their own.

If people can book the cabins on their own, then I say yes. But if you are required to book these cabins as part of your contract in order to use this venue, then the cost is on you and your fiance.

The guests typically pay for their own accommodations. The only reason I would think that you guys needed to pay for it was if you were requiring people to stay at a certain place, like the lodge. If it is optional, they pay for themselves.
