Guest Transportation - Need to Have or Nice to Have?

This depends on the location of the ceremony in relation to the reception and if directions will be complicated. The church we are getting married at is 15 minutes away from the reception venue and is a straight shot. In addition, if you have guests that are coming a distance and aren't getting a rental car, then yes. I believe this is way it's so important to send out the Save The Date cards so that by the time the invitations go out, most of your guest that will need to travel a distance will know their funds and can decide on traveling expenses to include hotel accommodations, etc - most will contact you regarding transportation, giving you ample time to get transportation for your guest, especially if you discuss this ahead of time with your limousine provider.

I have been going back and forth on this a lot, but ultimately decided it was just a nice to have and didn't really fit in our budget.

Nice to have! again keeps wedding party together and keeps the fun going with that group to the spread through the family.

Nice to have. Unless the wedding and reception is a mission to get to, every man/ for him/her self haha

Need to have, especially in more rural area where Uber isn’t available.

Nice to have...we couldn't afford this even if we wanted to, but we blocked 3 hotels, all within 10-15 minutes of the venue, and our reception is at the same location as the ceremony. We have a cash bar, and there's nobody on the guest list that's particularly worrisome.

Nice to have, but there's a lot that could maybe make this become a necessity.

Nice to have; though if we can afford it, I'd like to arrange for a shuttle from the hotel to our venue for our out-of-town guests.

This would be a need for me especially if I were having a lot of out of town guests and the hotel where the room blocks were was far from the wedding venue. I'd want them to not have to worry about car rentals, directions, etc. Just come to relax, witness, and have a good time!

Nice to have for us. All of our family traveling from out of state will get rentals. The venue is about 20min away from where everyone will be staying. Plus most folks are coming early to explore the east coast a bit before wedding festivities kick off. So we won’t be providing transportation

Nice to have - if you are having a bar, you could print a list of local taxi's or phone numbers for places for a ride (uber, lift) on the bar. A reception venue I used to work at did this and I didnt think it was tacky, i thought it was thoughtful of the venue to give people from out of town this info.

Nice to have, but we're not so concerned with it. Our reception area is only about a block from the hotel so no big deal there

Nice to have. As much as I would have liked to have it since we live in a small town, we would have to get transportation out of town which makes it really expensive.

Nice to have. We have quite a few people travelling in for our wedding, but our venue is less than 1/2 a mile from the hotel that we have our room block at. Therefore, we couldn't justify spending an additional $1,500+ to get people 1/2 a mile.

It's nice to have. There's a hotel I'm looking into and they offer transportation to and from our venue so that would be a really nice perk if we end up booking with them.
