Guestbook globe?

KW, on March 30, 2017 at 1:46 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 9

Hi everyone! I know questions about alternative guestbooks get asked a lot but was curious if anyone has done or was planning to do a globe? I've seen really cute ones on Etsy, but since they're kind of pricy, I was thinking of just purchasing a regular light colored globe like the picture below. Could this work? What type of writing utensil would be best? I'm concerned about a sharpie type pen smearing because of the type of material of the globe. Any advice would be appreciated! Smiley smile

I wasn't planning to paint it because I thought the white/gold was really pretty and I really don't want to cover that up!

My husband is a geographer and I've been to quite a few weddings for his colleagues that used globes as guestbooks. I've always signed it with a sharpie marker. And because of their field they've always left the map visible which I think is really cute. That globe is pretty.

Thanks! I really like it too and it actually goes really well with our wedding colors.

I really like this idea! I would be concerned that people might smudge other people's signatures when writing. Maybe buy a miniature version and see how long it takes for different markers to dry when writing?

I love this idea! I made something similar for a client recently that could be another option. They got this canvas map for me to customize and they used it as their guestbook. After the wedding, they're going to hang it in their house and mark all the places they go together Smiley smile They just had everyone sign with fine tip sharpies and didn't have to worry about smudging!

@Kaylen I love that! I saw a ton of those maps on Etsy, they were just really pricy as well! I may end up getting one but this is just one of those not 100% necessary things that I didn't want to necessarily spend a ton of money on.

Thank you! Smiley smile Etsy stuff can get expensive because they charge vendor fees which gets tacked on to the price you see. I don't sell on Etsy so I can keep my costs low, and I bet you can find some calligraphers in your area that could do it for a lot less Smiley smile

Hi! I'm looking to do the same thing you were asking about so was curious if using a sharpie on the white and gold globe that you purchased worked? Thanks!
