Guests, Bridal Party Bringing Their Pets?

Nay, on September 20, 2013 at 4:53 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 33

Our event is at a hotel. I sent my MOH an email asking her when she is checking in - the Friday or Saturday. Our event doesn't start until 6:30 p.m. Saturday evening and her and BM (her hubby) already have Saturday night booked but were thinking of adding Friday night. She responded asking if the hotel was pet friendly, which it's not, but I'm guessing if it was she would be bringing her 3 dogs.

Any of your guests that are staying at hotels for your event bringing their pets?

Edited for typos.

No. Definitely not. Sorry, but weddings (or vow renewals) are not the place for animals IMO. What, would they leave their pet(s) up in the room during the ceremony/reception? I'm sure hotel staff would really like that lol.

We stayed in a pet friendly hotel and brought our dog with us, but he was in the wedding. Not many guests needed to stay in a hotel because of our location and time of wedding, but those who did did not bring their dog.

Does she not have any other possible arrangements for her dogs while she is gone whether a friend or family member watching them or a boarder? Does she travel with her dogs a lot?

I wasn't sure if they were pet friendly or not, but when she called to add Friday she said they weren't. Whew. Yanno?? I'm having no kids, didn't know I had to specify no pets too. lol

@MrsO She can find someone. She doesn't travel with them all the time. I guess she just figured if it was a pet friendly hotel then sh e could bring them.

Don't get me wrong, I love animals and her dogs are adorable. She has three Shih Tzus and I adore them, but not on that day.

Well I would hope that she wouldn't be trying to bring them to the event.

She wouldn't do that with the hotel not being pet friendly. And I don't think she would want to stay in an area hotel which wouldn't make sense since everything is in one place - ceremony, cocktail and reception - all in the same hotel.

I wouldn't mind if they did, but I don't think anyone will or will have to.

Wow, just wow. Don't have pets but I would find other arrangements. If it was pet friendly, I would not want the dogs at the ceremony or reception. Sorry no go

I have one guest that is bringing her 2 dogs but not to the wedding. She will just drop them off at the house with our dogs so no problem.

No pets please! is not something I would have ever thought to add!

At a hotel and if it was pet friendly but not for the ceremony and reception.

We have 2 dogs and 3 cats and a wonderful house/pet sitter staying at our place that weekend. My BFF and her family have 6 dogs between 2 households (home and college kids) and they have all figured out how to get their animals taken care of by boarding or dog sitters for the weekend - it is not that difficult!

It's very likely that my parents, brother and cousin and some other family members will bring their dogs to our wedding. But then the wedding is on a farm and we are farm people so the dogs would fit in and get free reign of the land so wouldn't be at the wedding just on the land.

There isn't a chance that we or them would ever do that is it was at a hotel or any other space for a wedding or even not on a family land.

No pets allowed near anything wedding. I even have a gate up to my bedroom where the wedding closet it so my mom's dogs can't get at it.

don't take the chance, just axe all pets now and save yourself!

@Mallory that's why it's no big deal to us our wedding is on our ranch so the dogs fit in. FH's dogs will be running all over but our little dogs will be inside.

My in-laws have 2 dogs and a cat. All three went to a boarding facility for our wedding weekend since it was out of town.

My relatives from out of town found pet sitters to check on their dogs while they were gone. One friend brought his dog down for the weekend, but stayed at home, at his parents during the ceremony and reception.
