Guests canceling

Samantha, on July 9, 2020 at 4:44 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 14
So I have two more days until our big day. With everything going on with covid i have had quite a few people saying they won't be able to come because they don't want to risk anything or other reasons. The venue that we have, has no restrictions because it is bigger an open and everybody has enough room to space out and social distance. Is anybody else having the same problem? I know youll always have some people not show that they RSVP.

My wedding was pre-pandemic but i still had no-shows and people who ended up changing their minds before. so i think it's also partly to do with covid and also sometimes it just happens.

I read a post from another bride and she mentioned that she had 100+ RSVP but only 40 shower. So I guess it’s to be expected.

A friend of mine had their wedding in early March, literally right before our state shut down and they had tons of last minute cancellations. They were very frustrated and had to make table adjustment and such.

My wedding was last year and I still only had 53% come. Some people have legit reasons and some don’t and some will just not show. It’s unfortunately to be expected even though it’s sad.

I saw another post on here where the couple had less than half of their guests to show up. Before Covid, couples would always have a small number of guess who didn’t show. But now during the pandemic, I foresee it being very common. The nice thing is that those guests informed you that they aren’t showing up, while others won’t. But when it comes to Covid, it’s day by day, and so much can change after the RSVP due date.

I’m sorry you’re having people change their minds so last minute, it’s certainly crazy times. I’m still waiting on RSVPs to come in, I feel like the first ones were within days of invites going out and now it has been over a week of silence. I’m sure you won’t be thinking about last minute cancellations on your day, just focus on the fact that nothing could take this day away from you.

I'm sorry you're hearing about last minute cancellations Samantha! It definitely might be a more frequent occurrence now because of the pandemic, but your wedding day will still be incredible!

Try to be understanding and just focus on the fact that you're about to get married!! Smiley heart

Our wedding was last year and we still didn't have a 100% of the people show up even though they said they would. I think it is pretty normal for some to back out last minute unfortunately. I think the pandemic makes it even more likely that guests will not show up even though they said they'd be there.

I’ve had people message me at the last minute that they aren’t coming and some may decide to not show up next week for our wedding. It sucks because we’ve bought food and everything for all these people but is what is.

Don't worry about that. The day is about you and your FH getting married just keep that focus. During this time I think it is normal for people to feel uncomfortable and decide to not attend a function. Please do not let that get you down on your day. Smiley smile

Omg so rude, you think people would at least tell you they can’t come anymore rather than just simply not show. Smiley sad
