Guests dropping out of the wedding last minute

Brittney, on December 16, 2019 at 10:53 AM Posted in Planning 0 9
I just need to vent. My wedding is two weeks away and in the past week I’ve had 4 PEOPLE DROP OUT. It’s sad and frustrating. These are people I wanted there and people I prioritized over others. It’s a small wedding as-is. I want to invite people from my B list now, but with it so last minute it feels rude on my part. Not even sure if my venue will charge for their meals & drink still - the cut off is 2 weeks before (it will be 2 weeks on Thursday). Ugh, end rant.

I'm sorry you've had guests changing their RSVPs! I can imagine that would be very frustrating. I definitely wouldn't invite anyone from your B-list because I think it would come across badly, especially if they would only have two days to RSVP before your cut off. Since those 4 people have let you know before your cut off, I don't see why the venue would charge you for them if you haven't given your final count.

Try not to stress, you're almost at the finish line! It'll all be worth it Smiley smile

So frustrating!!! Fingers crossed your venue doesn’t make you pay for them, but it sounds like you’ll be okay! Better that they drop out now vs 2 days before the wedding. Keep your head up girl!

Very frustrating but thankfully they told you BEFORE catering count is due.

I had 2 friends I have been friends with for 15 years almost flake and I was in tears (they did go). We did have 4 no-shows which sucked because that was $400 wasted. We do not speak to the two who were “just too tired” to show up. 😡

We had one person drop out last minute due to needing to study for an exam (which was frustrating because of course you get the test schedule way ahead of time and this person lives close to the venue so they could have come to the ceremony, ate dinner, and left). The upside to this was that everyone else showed up!!! So i was happy to see that!!

I had that happen to me too. I had ones telling me up until my wedding day they would be there and then they didn't show. Nearly all the guest at our wedding were from his side of the family. I was hurt but it taught me who I matter to

I had 3 wedding party members drop out and a lot of declines. It was upsetting but we still had a great day with plenty of people.

I'm so sorry to hear that! Sounds like you at least won't have to pay for them if your catering cut-off isn't until Thursday, so that's one silver lining. I wouldn't invite anyone from your B-list, but if you have any guests you couldn't give a plus one to before, you could see if they'd like to bring someone with them?

Sorry to hear. I know I got annoyed when that happened to me. On the bright side they told you and didn't just do a no show.

I’ve get married in less than 48 hrs and have just had 7 ppl drop out after weeks of saying they are excited to come and they wil ‘definitely be there’. I feel silly for crying as I know the only thing that really matters is marrying my fiancé but we had a really small wedding in the first place, and now, only 14 people are coming, 4 of those are our kids. My parents are dead, his mum isn’t coming, and I just feel like we don’t matter to anyone.
