Ohhh Boy. I actually had a cousin who got married in Virginia. Her's was BYOB. My dad had to bring his own Scotch, and my aunt yelled at him for packing it back up with him when we were leaving lol. I don't understand people. If you want alcohol at your wedding why wouldn't you budget for it?
Honestly, I'd rather be able to bring my own than it be a dry wedding. A 6 pack of Fat Tire and I'm having a good ass time. But yeah, still definitely side eye worthy.
LOL! Man I can't even imagine seeing an invitation saying BYOB. Like I would be floored. Why not just do a cash bar if you truly can't afford it? I personally wouldn't, but at least it is a known option in the wedding world!
There is a venue here in Nova Scotia that is a BYOB wedding venue. No lie.
What drinks are provided by Hatfield Farm?
We provide guests with unlimited water, juice, soft drinks, coffee and tea. Depending on your budget, we can also include a punch or similar type of beverage. Ice is provided by the Farm.
Is alcohol allowed at Hatfield Farm?
Hatfield Farm is not licensed, therefore, guests are welcome to bring their own. No glass bottles are allowed on the property, so all alcohol must be in cans, plastic, or cardboard containers. We do make an exception for table wine during dinner which may be provided by the bride and groom only. Hatfield Farm will chill your wine in advance, cork it, and place it on the tables when guests are seated. We can also provide old fashioned wash bins filled with ice for the guests to keep their alcohol in throughout the evening.
I wonder what kind of venue she's having. Is it their back yard, or is it a nicer place? I can't imagine walking into a really nice wedding reception with a 6 pack in my hand haha
LOL!! Did you comment on it to let them know they can tell their guests "We're too cheap to provide you with alcohol, even though we want it. Therefore, you'll have to bring your own."
Ugh, again - why can't people get it??? If you can't afford a wedding, you don't have one.
Ughhhh. Seriously. She's saving thousands of dollars by finding a venue where she can bring in her own alcohol. I'm spending around $1,000 for alcohol for my wedding of 250 heavy, heavy drinkers. That's nothing! How would you even suggest it to your guests???
Though I would actually prefer BYOB than a cash bar. A $10 bottle of wine would have me set for the night, while I could easily drop $50 on a cash bar.
Oh wow. Yup, I just sent a request to join that group lol. But only because I'm in Iowa too and I didn't know that group existed lol. I have GOT to see those comments lol.
Exactly Lori! Why would people prefer to have someone make them a $4 drink when they can make one themselves for less than half that?!! Just so they can feel "hosted". Lol okay.
I have found that Facebook groups usually either offer the WORST advice or people want to the worst things. I've given up trying to tell brides to not cater their own wedding, BYOB, not invite people's s/os, etc. because I usually get ganged up on and told I'm being a bitch lol.
