Hair and make up trial tip

on June 20, 2019 at 9:08 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 5
Hey ladies I'm sure this has been discussed and asked before but here I go asking it again. I paid 680 for my 5 ladies hair and 3 for makeup. They are part of my gift to the girls. They choose the hair style and make up they want. I don't have a preference. I am the only one doing a trial. How much should I tip for the trial. I am traveling to both on two separate days. One day makeup and another day hair. Hair is an hour away and make up is 1.5 hours away. I know the day of the wedding thr tip is 15-20%. Furst question how much should I tip for each trial? Second both of these ladies are contracted out so owner won't be there. Do I take total of service I paid her and figure out % then divide it in half. So say tip 150.00 should I tip each 75? Does hair get more since there is more girls? I want to be fair and not cheap.

I would personally tip whatever the specific service of that day is. If the trial costs $100 for hair I’d give $20 tip and if the makeup trial is $100 I’d give a $20 tip. Then I would tip the total for the actual wedding day so $136 for the $680 if you want to do 20%. That being said, I’d give more to the hairstylist as she’s doing more work.

The makeup and hair trial were included in that 680. So I'm not actually sure of cost break down 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Ooh I see. Well if you add an extra hair and makeup to include the trial it is 10 total services you’re paying $680 for or $68 a service. That is $13.60 for a 20% tip on each service. If you want to look at it that way. I’d probably give $15 each for tips for trial (just for ease of not having to break bills) and then split the rest for day of. Again, I’d still give the hair stylist a little more since she’s doing more services.

I tipped (for both trial and day-of) just the regular amount that I would tip for getting my hair cut. Usually 15-20%

Anything hair related I usually tip 20%. I would think you would still tip for the trial since they are providing a service.
