Hair and make up trial

Amanda, on May 21, 2019 at 3:41 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 9
Hey ladies
Im wondering, how far in advance did you do your hair and make up trial? I would like to do mine the morning of my engagement photos so I can put the look to use!, however I want to take the pics end of the summer so I can use them for save the dates as we are getting married Aug 2020.

Am I crazy for doing a trial a year before my wedding?

I did a trial 13 months out, before I booked. I'm super picky so wanted to make sure I liked her. I'm doing another one next month (one month prior). My hair length & color has changed, my skin has changed, and I have extensions. I also have my dress & veil now so I know more of what I want. I'm paying for both trials.

No, my trial is scheduled for 11 months before the wedding. It would have been even sooner than that if my HMUA had an earlier date available.

I think there's something to be said for doing it earlier. What if you don't like the results? What if you don't like the person? I had to hire someone out of the blue that I'd never met before, so if we don't click at the trial, or I don't care for her work, I have time to find someone else without having to scramble.

If you're comfortable with it, go for it. I'm probably doing mine way too close to the wedding.

Not at all! I did a trial last year and this year and I'm not getting married until October 2020. You want to make sure you are happy with the look and give yourself time if you want to change your makeup look. I think a few trials of a few looks is best.

I think it's more usual to do the trial for your bridal session, if you're doing that, but whatever makes you happy. Just keep in mind that your hair, personal style, and makeup trends may all change in a year.

Nope not crazy! I’m doing it the exact same way! That way you not only know what it’s going to look like but you get to utilize it! Also a lot of people book fast so you need to know you like their work on you before you make a final decision and you don’t want to wait until too late to decide!

I did my trial 1.5-2 months out from the wedding. I don’t think it matters how far out you do it as long as your stylists take lots of notes and pictures and you do the same.

No I'm doing the same thing since I'm super picky. Our wedding isn't until September 2020 but I'm doing my make up and hair trial in October of this year. I feel like better to have a a look that you like and feel confident in on the day of your wedding.Smiley smile
