Hair and Make up Vendor

Jess, on March 6, 2021 at 3:48 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 3
Hi everyone! So my H&MU vendor has changed my artists twice now and I’m wondering what other people would do. So I haven’t had a trial yet and my wedding isn’t until August but I picked my vendor based on a specific artist’s portfolio and now they’re changing it. So I booked this vendor back in November and I got matched with two artists for myself and my bridal party. I loved both the girls they set me up with and was SO excited for them. I then got an email saying my second artist got switched and I was a little annoyed but my head artist was still the same and she was mainly who I wanted on my team. Now a few days ago I got an email saying that my head artist changed to a new girl and I don’t like her portfolio as much. I tried to call them twice and they won’t answer my call or return my message. I don’t know what to do because I signed a contract saying I’d have these artists for my wedding and now they’ve changed all of this. So I’m wondering should I let it go until my trial (that’s not until May) and see how I like it or should I continue to push back? What would you guys do?

If you signed a contract for certain artists they already broke it by switching BOTH of them. I understand things happen and the beauty business is not doing well since it's not a priority (I work in the hair business myself), but they should definitely give you the choice of dissolving the contract since these artists are not the ones you hired them for. I would definitely try to cancel (since you said you don't like her portfolio) and hire someone else. It's YOUR wedding, you should love the work of whoever you hire.

PP is correct. If your contract specified a certain makeup artist, then they are in the wrong and you should be able to get all of your money back!

Hi Jess! I'd definitely read through your contract again with a fine-toothed comb to see if those original artists are listed by name, and if there's any language around changing artists!

I went through a HMUA team with a lot of stylists, and none were guaranteed by name in my contract - but I was comfortable with all of their work!

If those artists were named in your contract then I would definitely push back about the changes!!
