Hair and makeup artist timing

C, on May 4, 2020 at 10:10 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 5

How long does a hair and makeup artist typically stay? Some that I've been looking at have an option where they complete hair and makeup then leave - some also offer staying all day for touchups, or returning before the reception for touchups. What is typical? I have very oily skin so I will need touchups, but I'm sure I could apply another layer of powder - unless I use airbrush.

It depends on the artist and the look you’re going for. Obviously full glam is going to take longer than a subtle look. An updo will take longer than simple curls. I would consult with the artist to see how long they think.

My hair and make up artist is scheduled 2 hours before I have my photo session for the first look.

My artist wasn’t going to stay throughout the day for touch ups. She left at 1 when she was finished and we started at 3. But it never hurts to ask them for a quote if it’s important to you.

I had my makeup artist stay on for additional hours. She was originally scheduled to be done by 12:30pm and leave our hotel the same time as us, but I contracted her to go to the venue and stay on for touch ups for first look/ceremony (3:30pm) and do one last touch up before the reception which started at 5pm. She charged $60/hr, but her rate has gone up to $100/hr now. My wedding was I n Southern California.

She brought on an assistant for the morning so between the two of them, it took a little over 4 hours to work on 12 of us.

This all depends on what type of hairstyle you want. Mine was simple but she took close to and hour and my makeup was actually an hour.

I also have very oily skin. I'm so glad my sin never got really oil. I didn't use airbrush. You can use those oil blotting sheets to help with the oil. But maybe you can mention i to the makeup artist. But the trial will help you determine how your skin will be that day.

I also did makeup last. I didn't want the heat from the heating tools to melt. Also, for my oily skin won't be too oily asap.
