Hair and Makeup conflict

Sabrina, on February 27, 2021 at 4:35 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 9
So I have a little conflict with my hair and make up situation. Right after we got engagement my soon to be step sons girlfriend offered to do my hair and makeup for the wedding and at the time I said yes. Now thinking about it and getting a reference from my normal hair stylist I want to use someone else. I am just scared it isn't going to be what I want and would prefer to use someone with more experience. I just don't know how to break it to her. Should I give her a shot? I am going to ask her to do my hair and makeup for our engagement photos in a few weeks. I am so conflicted!

That’s a sticky situation. Maybe “with all the excitement on the day of the wedding & trying to get yourself ready, I’m going to have someone else do my hair & makeup. That way you can focus on that special day & getting yourself ready without worrying about me.”

Could you have the person your stylus recommends do your hair and make up, and maybe have the girlfriend do your BMs?

I hadn't even thought about that honestly.

Get a trial from both her and a professional via Instagram. You can use the girlfriend's skills for a pre-wedding party.

Have her do a trial. Then you’ll be able to see what she can do and if it’s going to meet your expectations and if not just tell her it’s not exactly what you’re looking for.

I agree with this! Tell her it’s hard for her to enjoy the day if she’s got a responsibility doing your hair and makeup and you’d rather have her be involved in other ways

When Covid got last spring, we had to postpone our engagement photos and, consequently, our save the dates. Guests got them around 4 months before the wedding instead of the typical 5-8 months. The way I saw it was that it was still informing them of the wedding date before it was time for invitations! We had made sure to tell close family and friends as soon as we knew the date!
