Hair and Makeup Logistics for a Morning Wedding?

Brittani, on October 14, 2020 at 12:17 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 1 7

We have been planning for a morning wedding ceremony around 10am, and I just started thinking about how this will work for hair and makeup. I will definitely need my hair and makeup done, and I assume my mom, sister, groom's mom, and a handful of bridesmaids will want to get theirs done as well (at least hair, idk about makeup). Has anybody done a morning wedding? How did you schedule hair and makeup? Did you have multiple stylists? We have the option of having people come on site, or traveling to a salon about 15 mins away- thoughts?

It depends how many artists you are going to have and how many people getting makeup done. I know that for mine my ceremony started at 12:30 PM and we had to start our makeup around 6 AM haha. I’d just be prepared to start super early (like 5 or earlier) and ask for more than one artist. Also I’d ask them to come to you, its a hassle having to go anywhere the morning of your wedding

Yikes, this is going to make for an early morning. Our wedding was at 5:30 but we did our first look at 3:45. Our hair/make up artist started at 9:30 a.m. and we had 7 girls getting services.

Hello, my wedding will be at 10:30 and this will be the schedule. It'll be taking place in my house.

The MUA team actually sent me a rough draft of this and I put it in Google Sheets so that I could share with my bridesmaids/mom/MIL. (Sorry if it's small - wanted to fit everything to show you the whole thing.)

Definitely check with your hair/makeup team to see how the logistics would work, or how long it would take for each person to get their hair/makeup done.

Your HMUA should put together a schedule for you. Most will budget 30-45 minutes per service per bridesmaid/mom. Obviously if you have one hair person and one separate makeup artist, they can work in tandem on two different bridesmaid/moms. Budget more like 90 - 120 minutes for bride’s HMU and then build in a buffer plus transportation so you are all ready at the venue in time for any pre-wedding photos and to be hidden away at least 30 mins before ceremony start as guests start arriving. Honestly, it may be more efficient cost wise and timing wise if you find a salon nearby that opens early enough. Kind of depends how many people you have needing which types of service and how many HMUA you’ll be hiring.

I am also having a ceremony at 10am and will be having two artists (hair stylist and make up artist) coming to my house very early in the morning. Will you be taking pictures (first look, bridal party portraits) before the ceremony? Don’t forget to account for that time as well if you are. I would highly recommend it as the early morning lighting might yield better photos then later in the day. Aside from that, keep in mind that stylists might charge an early morning fee (both of mine did). As a point of reference, I was told about 30-45minutes per service for bridesmaids, and allot 1 hour per service for the bride. I would also ask for opinions from your bridesmaids. Since it’s very early in the morning, if you’re not too particular, some might even just opt to do their own hair/makeup to save time and get an extra wink of sleep.

I am having an AM ceremony at 11:30. It's just myself and my MOH getting our hair and makeup down, and the salon said she would start me at 8:30am, my MOH at 9:30am so we can leave by 10:15. Our venue is super small, so she doesn't want us there until 11:15 (only 17 people total coming to the wedding so nothing big).

I think it depends on the amount of people you have and how many can work on you at one time.
