Hair and makeup minimum

Yes, that's pretty typical, especially for a weekend wedding. Most HMUAs won't waste their time traveling to do hair or makeup for 1-3 people when they could have someone else book them for a larger party and more profit.

Yes I ran into that. I offered services to our mothers to add people, but then I ended up booking someone who didn’t have a minimum anyway .

Yes that’s typical for them traveling to you. If you were able to go to them then it would be a lot more affordable.

I didn't have this issue but it is common. It's just business. They don't want to book your wedding for 3 people when they can book a wedding of 9 that day. Have you thought about asking MOB and MOG if they would be interested in using services of your HMUA? That doesn't mean you have to pay for them.

I only have two bridesmaids too, so we’re just going down to a salon a half mile down the road from my venue. Are there any salons nearby that you three could go to instead of paying someone to travel to you and running into minimums?

That’s pretty common from what I’ve seen. If they’re going to travel they want to make sure it’s worth the cost of not being in the salon taking regular appointments for that time. I found a few people through this app though that don’t have an actual salon, they just travel for weddings and special events on weekends. Some had minimums and some didn’t so it’s always worth checking out! I never would have known about that otherwise because I was mostly just looking up actual salons.

Thanks ladies! I ended up reaching out to my bridesmaids and gave them the option of doing makeup, but let them know that (1) I wasnt requiring it and (2) it would be at their own expense. They both said they would be find with paying for their own makeup, so problem solved! I'll also offer up services to the MOB and MOG as well, but happy to not have to keep looking!

I did not have this issue. Only thing they told me is a trial was required for the bride and 10% deposit

Usually if they travel to you it's normal. If you go to a salon, it shouldn't be a problem I don't think?
