Hair and makeup time line

Maria, on May 29, 2019 at 10:30 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 6
So I’ve always heard brides should get their hair/makeup done last so it’s the freshest for pics. But, I’ve been reading that they should go sooner rather than later so makeup artists and stylists have enough time to do what the bride wants for hair/makeup so it’s not rushed. I’m a little stressed since our ceremony starts at 2 and hair/makeup is supposed to be done for everyone by 11:45 am (me (bride), 5 bridesmaids and my mom). I’m worried about not having enough time to take photos first before leaving for the church at 12:30 (limo picking us up around that time). I really want to make sure we get to the church before FH and guests start arriving, but I also want to take pics before I go. Any suggestions for when I should go in the order for hair/ makeup so I have enough time to get ready and take pics? Maybe the middle or 2nd to last instead? Thanks!

I am getting my hair and makeup done at the salon I've been going to forever. When discussing timeline, the owner (a family friend) said I would be going 1st to make sure the stylist has as much time with me as needed. If anything, you can be touched up real quick before going off to the church. Honestly, if your makeup and hair already start to lose their "freshness" after a few hours of sitting around a room, then it probably isn't going to hold up too great for the reception.

I would ask your HMUA their preference.

    Hi Maria!

There is merit to both arguments but I would personally ask the MUA when they would be most comfortable to have the bride. They may feel better having your get done first so that they are not rushed. What time do you have your stylists booked from?

As long as they are made aware that their deadline is 11:45, they should be able to keep to that schedule.

Will you have your photographer taking ‘getting ready’ photos also?

I'd ask your HAMU artist. I'm hiring 4 artists for 13 women to get their services done. Planning on 45 minutes per service for bridesmaid and an hour per service for me, then an extra 30 minutes in addition to that.

The stylists will be arriving at 8:30 and staying till about 11:45. I was planning on having my photographer come a little later so she could take photos of me getting ready (and so I can take advantage of the time I have with my photographer since we have her for a set amount of time) Smiley smile I’m definitely going to ask my HAMU Their opinion but I still feel conflicted haha

I think you will feel a lot more relaxed once you have spoken to your hair stylist and MUA. They will have a much better idea of the length of time it will take to complete your look.

I think it's a great idea to get your photographer to take some photos of you and your girls getting ready. Those photos are always so beautiful.
