Hair and Makeup Times Two

Emily, on January 8, 2020 at 8:52 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 5
Is it normal to hire a hair and makeup stylist for the bride and then another one for the bridal party? I’m only thinking about doing this because it cuts down on time and the lady I want to do my makeup is kinda pricey and I feel bad for making my bridal party pay for that.

    Hi Emily,
I'm paying for my makeup artist to do my bridesmaids also, you're right it is expensive but it's just something I was willing to do so we could be all together in a suite, she's starting early enough that we'll all be ready in plenty of time!!!

I think it’s a good idea. One of my bridesmaids did hair and makeup for all the other girls (she’s actually a professional hair stylist). I did my own makeup (I just prefer to) and had a separate hair stylist do my hair, just to have someone who could take her time with me.

Regarding “making” them pay for it though... are you requiring them to get their makeup done professionally? If so, you really need to pay for it. If you’re leaving it optional though then you don’t have to.

What does the salon suggest? I booked hair and makeup for 6 of us, and they said they will have one BM in hair, and another in makeup, and then they switch. I wouldn’t personally book two, they will plan your day accordingly to have everyone ready in time. But plan for some extra time in case you run over!

Be careful because some artists have a clause I believe that says they can be the only ones on site. Also second that if hair and makeup is obligatory, you should probably be paying for it as the general rule. I'm paying for both bridesmaids, my moh/sister, my mom, and my fmil.

I hired one stylist but she brought 3 additional people to do the bridesmaids & moms.
