Hair and makeup trial today... does it look ok?

Hi ladies, had the hair and makeup done today. I wanted something natural (me but better). I love the colors, what do you think? I’m an older bride and didn’t want anything too dramatic. I figured I wanted it to look good in photos and being 57 I wasn’t sure what to do. Kudos to Angela at Salon S! ...

Yes! Makeup foundation is just that… the foundation for everything thing else that’s applied. So the skin color match needs to be “perfect”. Also, Erica ^^ above is correct, avoid the use of too much mattifying powder.

Powder is ok. In facet you have to set this foundation with a good powder, Laura Mercier's translucent loose setting powder is the best since its HD friendly for pictures ( flash photography). I also am using Bare Minerals "Illuminating Mineral Veil". It's an illumination powder but it's not sparkly like some or way too bright and shiny like others. I'm putting it just on my cheek bones. If you can fit in a visit to Nordstrom go get color matched at the Giorgio Armani counter. Put this foundation on with a very damp sponge or foundation brush by "dabbing" as you put it on. Whats nice is that you can layer this foundation as well, and add more where you need more coverage. It's such a great foundation that you may not even need concealer. There are a few shades lighter that may suit you better, it's hard to tell exactly just by looking at your complexion on a computer. Definitely if you have time go get matched!

Yes, you’re right. Mattifying powder will make me look like a dry cracked mess. Thank god for trials, right? Funny I put on a tinted moisturizer today (bare minerals) and used some concealer in strategic areas and my skin looks like I have nothing on it, but evened out.

I just screen shot your response so I know what to look for. Foundation isn’t my friend except tinted moisturizer by bare minerals (suede is the color) and it matches my skin perfectly and it’s dewy. A little concept in strategic spots and I’m good to go.

I really love the lip colour and the eyeshadow choices on you. I also really like the blush placement. Plus, the hair is so gorgeous.

Yes, I did a trial and it made me realize I should do my own makeup. It’s been fun collecting colors and looking at tutorials on makeup application. I’ve always loved and worn makeup anyway. It’s been a lot of trial and error but I have my final look down! Now I’m just practicing it. I’ve actually learned a lot in this process!

    57! Dang you look amazing!

The only thing I noticed was that your face looks quite different from your chest, because the foundation used is a bit of a warmer tone and also really evens out your complexion whereas you have some age spots on your chest and its a bit pinker/cooler toned. Depending on your dress, I might do a little BB cream or tinted moisturizer just to make that transition a little less jarring. I don't think you need to put makeup all over, but you want your head and body to look like they belong on the same person, so a subtle transition between the two would bring it all together and look more cohesive.

Overall the look is stunning though and feels age appropriate and beautiful. Your hair is just luxurious!

Thank you. Yes, 57 and I do have age spots from tanning when I was young. I went and got foundation and concealer that matches my complexion and will have her use that.
