Hair and makeup trial—tipping?

User2574599655703, on January 25, 2020 at 11:08 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 7
Hey!

Are you expected to tip at your hair and makeup trial? There is already a bit of tension between myself and the company. I have very long (waist-length) and very thick hair—and so does my mom and sister/MOH. I told them they WILL absolutely need another hair stylist to do all of our hair to be ready by our deadline. This request is not based upon conjecture but cold, hard experience. The company insists there will be will enough time to do our hair and refuses to bring another stylist. It’s annoying and I feel like they are ignoring my concerns. While I told the company I would wait to make any final decisions until after the trial, I warned them I would consider hiring an outside hairstylist because I am not going to let them make us late.
I would hate to tip them at the trial and they make me late on my wedding day. BTW—here is a picture of me at a different salon PRE-STRAIGHTENING my hair for the hair trial. It took two people almost two hours just to do my hair. To tip or not to tip? Hair and makeup trial—tipping? 1

If a vendor was not accommodating to me before I hired them, I wouldn’t hire them. I’d find another stylist completely
So no I wouldn’t tip at the trial because I wouldn’t go to a trial if they weren’t open to my concerns

I wouldn't hire them. There are plenty of hairstylists in this world who would absolutely love to be a part of your day!

It’s a destination wedding, so we already hired them. I am hoping my hair will be so difficult to manage that they will agree with me that they need another person to do the FOUR of us (I previously didn’t mention that my mother in law is also getting her hair done, but she has very short hair). If not, I may just hire another person on my own and make them deal with it.

You don't need to hire them but you should tip after your trial. Its just like going in any other day and getting your hair done.

Agreed. They should get a tip for the work they put in at the trial. If the day-of comes and they can't accommodate you properly, then I'd reconsider, but for the trial definitely tip.

I'd pick another company if they won't listen to your requests. I wanted 4 stylists because we needed 13 women to get HAMU. I paid for the extra stylists but they did it without question.
