Hair and Makeup - who should go first and last?

Kimberly, on September 14, 2020 at 11:29 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 11
I have booked hair and makeup for my March 13th wedding. I’m only having my FH’s daughter (17) and my daughter (9) as bridesmaids but I have invited my mom and sister and will be inviting my FH’s mom to join us for hair and makeup at the cabin our moms and kids are staying for the weekend.
I asked the stylist how much time we’d need for 4 (possibly 5) adults and one child hair and makeup. She said they would need 3-1/2 to 4 hours. No big deal, but I am wondering who should go first and who last?

I'm not sure about the rest of the order but, you should go last. This way your hair and makeup are the freshest during pictures. (I hope that makes sense)

The bride should always be last. The rest of the order really isn’t too important but often mothers go first then bridesmaids.

My makeup artist said the bride should always go last so it’s the freshest. I would probably have the 9 yr old go second to last because kids play around and her hair could get messy. Just my experience from my nieces.

    Hi Bride to be!

Your stylist will make up the timeline. 😊 I had a slight panic when I received the timeline from my stylist the other day infact. I had my trial and it took 1.5 hrs and she just did a basic throw up my hair didn't put 100% effort into it. I get the timeline and she only will be there for 2.5 hrs total time. That leaves on 30 minutes for each other person for hair and makeup. In her timeline between guests she is prepping my hair and I am last.
I'd say leave it to the professional like I did. You may have unnecessary stress if you don't.

Not every HMUA will make a timeline. Move just told me how long she needed for everyone and that I should be last. The rest of the order was up to me.

Agree, bride should be last. I had my MIL go first so she could get her hair done and then leave 😃
I also knew some of my girls had hair that didn’t hold well, so I put them later along with my girls that struggle to get places on time.

For makeup, I agree bride should probably go last. However for hair, it might depend on texture. I think my stylist wants to do my hair first, since I have curly hair and will be doing an updo (versus BMs and mother, who will just do blow outs), so she wants to make sure she has plenty of time to do my hair first.

I did my schedule based on who would be at the hotel ready and who needed to come a bit later due to childcare/needing to travel. If everyone will be there early then it's really up to you what order you want as long as you're last. My stylist did have a schedule at the end for everyone to get touchups so if they went early and then ate lunch or whatever happened they got fixed up right before photos.

This makes sense. Luckily most will be staying at the cabin so it will just be myself and my sister who will need to drive to the cabin. My sister is always early to everything. 😊 I am not. LOL

I actually disagree with others, I think you should for sure go first. They can always touch you up before leaving so everything is as fresh as possible but you want to take as much time as you want on yourself and not feel rushed!

That does make sense. Hmmmmm. I’ll talk to my stylist and see what her recommendation is. Thank you!
