Hair curling

I would recommend using hair spray which I'm sure you already have. They also make a little glove you can wear so you don't burn your fingers while curling your hair.

I was very much looking forward to a professional doing all of this before the pandemic 😭 and makeup....I'm just going without because I own not a single piece of makeup.

Talk to your hair dresser. Some hair curls easily and other hair won't curl no matter what you do. They can take a look at it and see what you need to get the look you want.

My hair does NOT hold a curl well from using a curling iron. Instead, I use leave-in foam curlers; the springy curls they leave are incredible! They are soft and last all day, unlike crunch, limp, curling iron curls. If you're interested, here's how I do it-


1) Shower, let your hair mostly dry. It should be very slightly, almost unnoticeably, damp. This makes the hair more "suggestable" to shape change. 2) If you're worried about hold, run a little sport hair gel through your hair.3) Add the foam curlers. I personally love the look of the thicker ones. The little ones will give you VERY tiny, tight curls. 4) Sleep with them in, remove in the morning. Don't panic, because at first, it will look a little like an afro. They loosen within an hour or so! I usually put my hair up in a bun while I wait. It loosens up the curls closer to your scalp and preserves the curl towards the bottom for a natural, flowy look.

I would recommend looking at YouTube videos of how to use the curling iron as a “wand” the curls turn out better. And no offense to pp, but I would not recommend aquanet- it’s super stiff and dated. “Not Your Mother’s” is a great brand you can get at any drug store. Go for extra hold.

I use a curling wand by L'ange. My hair does not hold curl with any other product. I spray some heat protecting spray in it, then wand it. Takes me about 20 minutes and is still curly the following day after sleeping on it.
