Hair dilemma... updo or down?

Nicole, on June 24, 2020 at 10:06 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 16

My wedding is planned for July with the ceremony/pictures outside and the reception inside. I originally was worried about having my hair down with it falling flat and the curls loosening up. I decided to go with an up-do style (as pictured below), as I know my hair will stay throughout the night. However, after I did my trial, I did not love it. It was too high, too much going on in the bun area, way too much volume for me. I'm considering going with a lower, smaller bun, with some more texture on top but since I always wear my hair down and that's more me, maybe I should do a half-up/half-down hair style? My only concern is that the curls will fall and my hair will be flat within hours.

Anyone wear their hair down or half-up/half-down for their wedding? Any recommendations or suggestions?

I think it all depends on your feature and your dress. Curls stays or not, depends on what product your mua is using.

I’m keeping my hair down because I always wear it down and it’s just more me. I’m sure my curls won’t last through the entire reception, but at minimum through pictures and I’m not too worried about it. I like the half up half down look too. If you can afford to do it, I’d say do another trial.

Those pictures are really cute for inspo! Another thing you could consider is a ponytail type!
I did mine half up half down with curls and yeah it does fall flat after a while even with a lot of hair spray aha but it’s not that bad, cause you’ll still have curls

Kate Middleton wore her hair half up half down on her wedding day and it was beautiful!

I would recommend half up and half down. I know some people rock a low bun for the ceremony and let their hair down for the reception. If your hair stylist is willing to stick around after the ceremony that's best case scenario. I've had friends do that.

I did half up half down. If you’re not comfortable with your bun then you’re not going to enjoy your wedding photos as much.

I’m thinking of wearing my side swept so it’s like half up and half down.

I like the half up and half down look. It really depends on your preference. I hate my hair up so I personally wouldn’t go with that style.

My hair is very fine and won't hold a curl for long - especially if i'm sweating and dancing like I was on my wedding day! My hair definitely fell and flattened out, but the half-up style still made me look ok overall! Smiley laugh

An updo will be your best bet for your hairstyle holding all night, but ultimately you should choose a style that makes you feel and look your best!

I would go with the 1/2 up 1/2 down style of course it depends on your dress as well. The 3rd pic hair is really nice and is my choice.

If you feel more comfortable with a half up half down go for it! If you do a half up half down make sure to ask about the curls if you are concerned about it because good hairspray should be able to keep them from falling. I wanted to ask though did you ask your hairstylist to put it lower for your updo and having a little less hectic feeling?
