Anakaren , on April 3, 2018 at 10:58 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 12
Hi everyone !!!🤗 I’ve been very stressed for about a month now due to my hair disaster I’ve been asking my sister and mother also friends for advice they aren’t hair expert but they some what know about hair coloring and their answers haven’t been so helpful I don’t have any social media app besides this one so I figure I ask anyways last year in June I dye my light brown hair a soft black because my hair naturally isn’t light brown it’s a very dark brown and it was being a beached to retouch and my regrowfh was showing so I figure I go dark but the soft black just seemed to be almost jet black on my hair lol anyway last forward I went to a hair salon a month and a week ago to get my hair stripped I wanted all the black removed the lady said she could do the job and make it looks great so she said she was going to do highlight in order to remove the black that didn’t sound right to me but I went along with it after she was done I had caramel higlights and my hair was still black she told me she couldn’t remove all the black that I had to come back in a few weeks I was speechless and I didn’t complain I paid 260 plus 30 dollar tip , than I went to another salon to a hair colorist and he asked if I had tried to remove my hair color myself and I said no I didn’t lol that’s how bad it was anyways I told him I wanted all the color removed now I know box dye are hard to remove and that your hair tone can come out different it all depends well mine came out brassy orange , now I told him to plz put a toner or anything to make the brassy color go away he put color into my hair after it was all done I was so disappointed because it was brassy , he said i have to come back to dye it blah blah it’s been a month now and I’m just depressed because all I wanted was the black removed and a chocolate brown color to be applied , since I wasn’t trying to go blonde I figure with one hair stripping it would be possible I feel like both hair stylist didn’t listen to and I wasted 550 in total I want to fix it myself but I’ve been told not to do it idk what to do now I will attach a photo below if my hair now and also the color I want

So did the second stylist say he could color it brown if you came back? I would go back to him if you were comfortable, or look for a new colorist who is a Master Certified Redken Colorist. This should be possible, and you've got time before the wedding. I think stripping most of the black would be the hard part, and you've done that!

Well getting a dark color out of hair is difficult no matter what. Even going light brown from black. And it’s not the second guys fault that the first lady didn’t do it right it seems like the first person wasn’t going the right direction based on what the second one said. My suggestion is to go to the same person because you’re letting them only do half the job. You can’t do it all in one sit down it’s too much id guess not only on them but also your hair. My hair is naturally dark and any time I try to dye it anything by myself it looks like the picture of your current color. I would say go to the second person so that they can finish their job unless you think what he did was wrong too? To me it seems like the second person did what the first one said they were going to do.

The second colorist did a great at stripping my hair from all the black but left it orange looking and I did tell him 2 times while sitting on the chair please don’t leave it orange looking and he said he wouldn’t he would put a toner to take to help my hair look brown , after it was all said and done it still end up looking brown he try to convince me that it didn’t but it clearly does !!! It’s been a month so I know if I go to him he won’t fix his error for free I’m scared to go to another person bc of my last two bad experience but I guess I will have to go and take the risk bc that color I have on my head isn’t close to the color I want in the picture thank you everyone to your advice really appreciate it

It take multiple sessions to lighten hair. Its almost impossible for them to strip all the black in one visit. I dont recommend fixing it yourself box hair dye can be so harsh on your hair and on top of that it's never the color thats shown in the picture. Id recommend going back and letting him finish the job.

I would go back to him, it's very hard to go from dark to light so it will take time to correct.

When I go from my dark brown roots to anything lighter it takes multiple times to get all the dark hair to lighten. If your hair truly was black, no one would be able to strip it in one session, unless they full on bleached your hair (and even that’s not a guarantee) and that could cause serious damage to both your hair and your scalp. Trying to fix it yourself is probably the worst thing you can do right now. You won’t get the color you want even throughout your hair and it’ll be less fixable by a salon if you put more box dye into it.

Holy run on sentence. Your post was extremely difficult to read, but I think I get the gist.

If you're worried about the orangeness in the short term you can try toning shampoo/conditioners. You can try something like this-
    https://www.amazon.com/Joico-Color-Balance-Shampoo-Conditioner/dp/B017V5GPOQ/ref=sr_1_6_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1522844494&sr=1-6&keywords=blue+shampoo

The more you wash your hair the more the color will release. Hot water, sunshine, chlorine will all naturally brighten your hair, if that is a concern.

Of course he won't do it for free, there is no error. He stripped the black from your hair like you asked and toned it like you asked. The fact that it's still brassy is not an error on his part, it's due to the fact your hair has been highlighted, stripped and dyed multiple times. Hair doesn't just magically become the color you want, it's fickle and depends on it's health, the environment and your hair washing/conditioning routine. I agree with PP to try out a toner shampoo to work on slowly and SAFELY removing some of the brassiness. Then go back to the 2nd stylist and have him dye it for you like he said he would.

I think the second colorist did the best he could with what he had to work with. Lightening hair is a multi-appointment process. Your hair doesn't look orange it looks coppery-brown probably the best he could do when stripping it from black. You can't lighten your hair too much all at once since the bleach will kill your hair and will leave it damaged and brittle.

I would go back to him and allow him to continue working on it. He didn't make any errors so I certainly wouldn't expect him to do it for free.

I dyed my very light blonde hair a very deep brown (near the roots mostly as I had a balayage) nearly 3 years ago. I'm still trying to slowly strip it out. It is definitely not brown anymore but, it is a darker blonde than the rest of my hair, my stylist and I slowly work at stripping the color and working to blend it in naturally to the rest of my hair. The only way to get rid of it quickly would be to chop my mid-back length hair into a shoulder-length bob which I'm not willing to do. It's not always easy to fix color mistakes.

Black is the hardest color to get out and it always goes orange. If you try to lighten it too much it can break off. You need to find a salon that used Olaplex. It will protect your hair while coloring it, they also have an at home treatment. You need ash to counteract the brassiness. Sorry, I am a hairstylist and I know how hard this is and how frustrating.
