Hair for ceremony and reception?

Christelle, on November 22, 2019 at 12:15 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 4
Has anyone ever had their hair down completely or mostly down for the ceremony and then pinned it all up for the reception? If so could you all share pictures?
I am worried about getting hot if I leave it down for the reception with all of the dancing in the summertime. But my dress does have a high neckline so maybe I should just put it up for the ceremony too? What does everyone think?

I didn't personally, but my main concern would be time (you would have to do it during cocktail hour so you couldn't really take too many pictures) and paying the hair and makeup stylist to stay through the ceremony and after. I had my hair half up half down, I felt it was a great option for July in Colorado (so pretty hot) because it was pulled off my face but still down & curly!

I considered doing up for ceremony and down for reception. My moh told me about magic bun makers. So you can try those out!

I considered doing this but realized how long an updo would take to look good lol. Either I’d end up with a half-assed updo, or I’d be missing out on photo taking time or time with my guests to be getting my hair done. Didn’t seem with it to me!

    Hey Christelle!

Would you have a hair stylist doing your hair both times? As a pp mentioned, doing an updo can take quite a while if a hairstylist is doing it, and if you are doing it yourself it can definitely take a few tries to get it exactly how you want.

Having your hair up for the ceremony would mean that your hair is done for the day and you wouldn’t have to make any changes to your look - something you might really appreciate on your wedding day when you want to enjoy time with your guests. It will also show off any detail on the back of your dress that might get covered by leaving your hair down. Are you comfortable with having your hair up?
