Hair & Makeup Trials

Nina, on March 30, 2021 at 11:11 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 1 5
I was recommended to use a family member's best friend for hair styling, But I don't feel confident going completely with one hairstylist until I do a trial of 2 differents places. Since she is a family friend, I don't know if she's expecting to be the person that I go with for my hair stylist But she kept saying that I didn't need to do any trial. How do I tell her that I want to do a trial because I'm not sure who I want to use as my hair stylist vendor? Is that appropriate to say to her?

Lol that’s pretty bold of her to say that you don’t need to do a trial… That’s not for her to decide! I don’t care if she is the hairstylist for Beyoncé! She should understand that the trial is mandatory and a must. Not to mention a trial is there not only for you to determine if you like her work, but for her to determine and plan out what your look will be for that day and what will work best for your face. I would be very careful with this one. They often try to stay away from any “friend of the family “when it comes to my wedding and vendors. It always ends bad.

Just say that you want a trial. that's pretty standard. You don't have to tell her you might not pick her.

I would just say that you want a trial lol. It's standard for a hair stylist to do a trial run before your big day, so that's not out of the ordinary to do that! I'd also make sure you clear it up with her that you aren't sure if you're using her yet. If she's assuming that she'll be the one to do it, then that's pretty bold of her lol.

Oh no. my mom is a stylist and one thing that's not only standard but mandatory is a trial. don't feel pressured into using someone other people push for. it's YOUR big day, make sure you're comfortable with your stylist. Smiley heart

Oh wow, most stylists would WANT a trial, even if they had done your makeup a hundred times - to confirm exactly what you want, whether you're happy with what you picked, etc, so that on the day... they know exactly what they're doing!

I would not even consider hiring someone without a trial first, so I'd just tell her you'll be having one.
