Super October 2020

Hair / Makeup

When did you start booking your hair and makeup teams?

I have been contacting a few hair/makeup people who travel to you and a few are already booked! My wedding is October 2020!

Also a few mentioned I should have my Trials the morning of my bridal shower. My bridal shower will be August 202 and the wedding is October...is that to close to have a trial

What did you do and how far away from your wedding will you have your trials?

I booked mine about a year out. My wedding planner told me a good hair and makeup artist that comes to you will get booked a year or more out so I needed to book one at the same time as photographer and DJ. I didn’t end up having a trial but if I did they did trials 6-8 weeks before your wedding date.

I’ve been contacting a few too for our Sept 2020 wedding. No one has told me their booked yet, but there are very limited options where we are getting married without paying massive travel fees so I wanted to check early! A couple told me they are focusing on 2019 brides and will let me know in November (what if I was getting married in January!?!) when they start booking for 2020. I think it depends a lot if it’s an individual or through a salon too.

I’ve also seen most trials are about 6-8 weeks before, but I was thinking about doing a trial before booking and using it for engagement pictures to make sure I like the person. If I have the time and money I’d do a wedding day look trial closer to the day.

I booked my HMUA back in June for my Leap Day wedding. I'm doing my trials at the end of January so they'll be a month before the wedding. My HMUA does beautiful work and was a lot more reasonably priced than a lot of others in the area so I wanted to book her as soon as I knew I wanted to go with her.

I just booked my HMUA a week or so ago, though I won't be having a trial since it's a destination wedding. I'm trusting the portfolio and WW reviews and hoping it just goes well. I might try and squeeze one in if we make it down there before May. Good luck!

I did two trials 13 with two artists months out, then booked 12 months out. I did another trial 2 months out. I am super picky about HAMU so I wanted to make sure I had a great artist booked.

I started looking and booked my hair and make-up artists as soon as I got a venue (securing our date). This was about 9 months out. I did my first preview in February and a second in June (minor changes) for my July wedding.

My HMUA was the first vendor I booked because I've used her before and loved her. I knew she gets booked way out in advance so I booked her nearly a year out from my wedding. It is normal to do the trial about 2-3 months before the wedding. My trial was in October for my December wedding.
