Hair toppers for wedding day

Alyssa, on October 28, 2019 at 10:14 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 6
Hello, looking for advice from anyone here that has used a hair topper before (topper specifically, not regular extensions). I have thin hair in the front so I think a topper will be better and make my hair look fuller for wedding day. So far, I've gone on one consult for Lauren Ashtyn but they are so expensive, $750 for the topper alone not including dying it to match my hair or adding other extensions for length/fullness. I've seen Hidden Crown on Instagram but have read bad things about their toppers, people say they look like wigs and don't part naturally. Unfortunately, I cannot find a Hidden Crown stylist near me and am nervous to buy online because once you take the plastic off, you cannot return them ($450 each). I'd much rather buy a topper through a stylist since I'm not super hair savvy and probably wouldn't even put it on correctly unless someone showed me. Help!!
Also, if you're in the Boston area and have a topper stylist recommendation, let me know. I'm just not interested in any type of tape in our "permanent" extensions.

I recommend a monafilament topper with human hair. If at all possible, I'd avoid dying it because I think it stains the cap. Most wig shops should carry toppers. I've seen toppers cost about $1000 online. I think a smaller topper looks more natural because of where the clips sit.

I hate clips, so I use a halo extension for volume in the back.

    Good luck!

I didn't use a topper specifically but I have thin hair & light hair so the lighter parts of my hair are basically see-through & you can see my skin. With enough teasing, clip in extensions from Milk & Blush did well.

    Hey Alyssa!!

Have you consulted your regular hairdresser? Although they may not work specifically with extensions, they may be able to give you a recommendation for some reputable salons/hairdressers in your area.

I have but it was a dead end. I have curly/wavy hair so I have my hair devacut. My stylist gave me the info for the hair extension specialist at the salon but they only work with hairdreams, which are the permanent kind that get fused to your hair, not what I'm looking for.

Thanks for the advice, however, my hair is balayage so I will definitely need something that can be professionally dyed to matchmy hair color so it's not super obvious.

Thanks for the reply! The style I want for the big day is a low bun with loose tendrils in the front. My face framing pieces are really thin in the front so I think a topper would look better, not sure if they could even cover hair extensions.
