Hair up? Or down? Pros/cons of each?

I have my trial with my hair dresser in two weeks and I am completely stumped on what I want to do with my hair. My dress is spaghetti strap a-line lace dress with the back of the dress hitting around mid-back (with some pretty scalloped lace and button detail in the back).

For me-- I always wear my hair down. I've never mastered the look of a cute pony tail or bun and so I tend to wear my hair down. I have naturally wavy hair, but am really great with a curler and do loose waves when I'm going out or for a fun event. It holds curl incredibly well (I mean for DAYS after I curl it) and I'm very lucky for that!

I'm debating between having it down and curled with one side pinned back and away from my face, or having it in a very very loose full low up-do. I definitely don't want an updo on the top of my head or super tight. Loose, piecey, relaxed for sure.

There will be a lot of dancing at my wedding (a band and Greek music/dancing!), but it's in November so hopefully there will be a nice chill in the air and I can duck out on the patio if I get hot. I feel more comfortable with my hair down, but am worried about hugging so many people and getting matted down, getting hot, getting that tangly mess under the hair near the neck after a while. However, I've never had my hair in an up-do I like. But the attached picture is one I could see myself liking.

Anyone else have this struggle? Any advice? Thanks!!

It sounds like you really want to leave it down. In which case go for it, you'll be beautiful. I had mine up because of the wind surrounding my venue.

Ask if she can do both styles so you can test it out. The down look will be easy to pull off and then she can transition into the updo. Then you can get a flavor and you can truly go with your gut! I honestly love both styles, and I bet you could pull off both. I opted for a low bun for some of the reasons you suggested--I was worried about it getting in my face with weather/dancing/etc.

Hi! I’d love to know what style you ended up going with. I’m getting married next month and am having the same dilemma of up vs. down! Any update is appreciated! Smiley smile
