I am doing half and half but that's because I look terrible with it up aha. However I'd suggest you do different hair styles at the salon or yourself to try.
Another idea is maybe you can do one for ceremony and another for reception

I am also wearing a lacy long sleeve dress. I think an updo would look best with it! What is the style of your wedding? Mine is more rustic, so I am doing a messier looking updo with twists and a few curled pieces out of the twisty bun to frame my face.

I honestly just think do whatever makes you feel the most beautiful and comfortable. My personal preference is updo, but you're going to look beautiful no matter what hairstyle you go for, so make it what's comfortable to you!

If your hair is shorter I would do half up half down. If it’s longer updo to show off the dress!!

My stepdaughter/bridesmaid (20) is doing my hair and makeup. We are on a really tight budget. So cutting corners on the small stuff.

That's completely fine! All of my bridesmaids and myself are doing our own/each other's hair and makeup as well. It's a great way to cut down costs. I was more just wondering if she could do a "hair trial" with you before the big day. Maybe while your future husband (if y'all live together) is at work or something, so you could put your dress on and see what style hairdo you like the best with it. Also, a PP mentioned the neckline of your dress being a deciding factor. My neckline is an off the shoulder style, so that's also why I'm choosing to go with an updo.

It buttons all the way up my back and it shows zero cleavage i dont know what you would call the neck line lol but the shoulders of the dress are off the shoulders

That's what I was going to ask. It also depends if you like more hair around your face in photos (I must have bangs to hide my big forehead. lol).

If I wasn't going for a "Elizabeth Swann" pirate look I would have done a loose curled updo but instead showed off my curled extensions with half up/half down. I had a long-sleeved dress and illusion back dress:

Do you like a side swept look? I think that could be a good compliment to your dress. I went through WeddingWire's hairstyle pinterest for pictures of women wearing high necked and backed dresses and chose a couple for you to check out
