Hair/makeup Stress for Small Wedding Party

Kris, on August 20, 2021 at 9:12 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 7

I'm really starting to feel the stress of trying to figure out my hair/makeup for the wedding...like I'm even having nightmares about it being the day of and looking like a train wreck because I don't have anyone to help me with my hair and makeup. I'll just look like boring, drab me with a pretty dress.

A little background: I'm getting married in Lincoln, New Hampshire in about a year but the only formals I'd need would be for myself and maybe my future SIL who is my only bridesmaid. As soon as any salon hears that we'd only need 2, I've been told basically "so sorry but we do 4 or more if we're going to travel onsite". There aren't really any salons within quick driving distance for the day-of while I'm also needing to help decorate, get dressed, etc. And unfortunately I missed out on the "hair and makeup girly gene", lol!

...Any suggestions? Please and thank you...I'm at a loss.

Could you find a self owned MUA & hair stylist? If you have social media you can port asking for recommendations.

You can also search on thumbtack!

Thank you for the suggestion of Thumbtack! I'd searched here and on another popular wedding website, but hadn't come across that one yet. I have a couple of leads through FB of acquaintances or friends of friends, but I just feel weird (even though I'd be paying them) for asking for what seems like special treatment since the policy seems to be 4 or more across the board.

I did, but their list of vendors only included ones that did "full" wedding parties unless I want to drive 15 miles each way in traffic to the actual salon the day-of. :-/

Hmmm that stinks. Not sure how close you live to the venue but if you are decently close and dont know the area well maybe go and drive around and see if theres a hair salon in the area that they havent recommended at the venue. I had originally planned on using a florist my sisters used for their weddings but hes over an hour away and not taking any appointments until January of 2022 and he said even then he might still be overbooked so I went and drove around the area around my venue and stumbled across a florist just down the street from my venue that not only has had the best pricing for what I want that Ive seen so far but he will also deliver them to the venue day of.

I don't know if this is something you could do - but my mom and mil both got their make up done as well as the bridal party - if you can do something like that, then you'll have the four necessary for them to travel.
