Hair/makeup trial

Christina, on February 20, 2020 at 9:05 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 4

I went for my hair and makeup trial today and I almost cried because I hated my hair so much. The makeup is great, I don't wear a lot so she was very good at keeping it simple yet stunning. My hair on the other hand, NO (not done by the girl who did my makeup). She asked me to show her a photo of inspiration and it was simple loose waves, she took one look and was like I got this. She did the tightest curls then separated them and made it look like I didn't have hair on one side of my head. She kept trying to part it differently and add a side piece and finally I was so fed up that I'm like yeah this is great. When I went to pay for the trial, the super nice owner could tell something was wrong so we spoke in private and I told her my concerns. She offered me a complimentary trial but since this place is an hour away and I work and go to school full time it's hard for me to travel out there. She had another girl step in once the other girl left, and I somewhat liked what the other girl did. It was just hard to get a good feel of it since the first girl put so much hairspray and teased my hair so much that she couldn't even brush it out. I left without booking but now I don't know what else to do since every place that I like is booked for my date.

I would make my schedule available to go back for the complementary trial with someone else. Especially if a lot of other places are booked. Also, during your next trial, while she/he is in the middle of doing your hair, if you see something you don't like, tell them. Don't let them get to the end before saying anything. Trials are all about honesty and telling them what you like and don't like. Make sure you're being heard.

If you live near a beauty school you could try using one of them. They shouldn’t be crazy expensive and don’t forget to be honest. It’s hard , but it’s easier to let them know you think it’s weird or that you thought it would look different. I wish I had been honest with the girl that did my engagement make up and hair. I had to go home and fix the make up and I could have done my hair the way she did it and saved my money. I feel awkward talking to her now bc she’s kinda a friend.

Hey Christina. Perosnally if I was in this situation, I would take the complimentary trial and go from there. If it works out, it will save you the stress of having to find someone else who isn't already booked, along with not having to spend more money on trials. Can you carve some time out over the next few weeks to revisit? do you have to go back up there for some other planning bits?
