Hair/makeup Trial $$

Happilee, on September 7, 2019 at 9:50 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 7
I keep seeing people suggest to try more than one hair and makeup trial. This makes sense because you want to decide who is a best fit for you but it's so expensive. Every trial I come across is $80+ EACH and not even to try both together.

Is anyone else as frustrated as me?

I would be too but I was lucky enough to find a person that ended up being a perfect fit with me. I just had her do natural pink make up and curly hair for my engagement pictures and I loved them! I showed her similar to what I want for my wedding and I think she can handle it with her twist of it. I would look into everyone and look at the reviews and then go with your gut.

Same!!! I'm in Arizona. I actually love makeup, own A LOT of nice makeup and can do it myself, but I want it professionally done at least this once! The cost is outrageous. Then I have to add in hair. It's just crazy.

I was pretty taken aback by the prices of hair and makeup. Not sure what I was really thinking (I feel like I thought maybe each would run me $75?).

Even though I can be kind of indecisive IRL about a lot of things, I've noticed that with wedding stuff, I immediately know if I like a vendor or not just from reviews, their selection of photos, and website.

I personally don't have extra money to do trials with multiple artists. I did a lot of research on MUAs and found one that I absolutely LOVED and felt stood out above everyone else. Based on her portfolio, I'm totally comfortable hiring her (at a very high rate imo, but worth it).

(I initially planned on hiring one artist for both, but I felt like all the vendors clearly specialized in one over the other, so I'm going with separate people. Currently looking into hair stylists now!)

I totally get why they cost so much but it really adds up. I think the biggest thing is just finding someone who knows what they’re doing because you can always give direction on what you like. I def have some things I’m going to tweak from my trial the day of, but my girl is so good that not worried about her pulling it off.

I took a gamble. I last minute hired someone to do my makeup for our engagement photos so I didn’t have time to do a trial. Well. That’s my trial because I loved what she did and she’s going to do my makeup for the wedding.

I did two trials before booking (one $100, one $80). If you can't afford that, I'd just find the very best reviewed & with pictures of styles you like.
