Hairmua Charges Cancellation fee per service cancelled?

Maggie, on August 2, 2019 at 3:48 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 5

So I recently lost all confidence in my Hair and MUA and opted to cancel the contract after a very disappointing trial. I understanding losing the deposit, but the vendor wants me to pay a cancellation fee per service i was going to have. It is written in the contract that I signed, but given the current situation I find myself in high disagreement with it, to the point where I am going to ignore the invoice should she send it over.

I should mention: i walked out of my trail with a noticeably orange face (on which I made comment) and a hairstyle that had completely fallen down within an hour of the appointment ( she said she couldn't do it as I wanted because my hair needed to grow in the next month).

Anyone had this happen? I know I agreed to the contract, but it seems unreal and completely unfair to pay for services that I did not obtain. The amount that she wants per service is anywhere from 70-80% of the original service cost.

Yikes! That would have been a huge red flag for me in even signing the contract! I get your frustration, but if it says you have to pay a cancellation fee er service in the contract I don’t think you have any legal ground to stand on and she could decide to turn you over to collections for it.

I would think I’d be facing small claims court if I chose to ignore it...not collections.

That’s expensive and time consuming, but she could. The self-employed individual I worked for just turned people over to collections and lost part of the amount in exchange for the collections agency tracing down payment.

The reality is that whether you agree with it or not, you signed a contract with those fees listed. If she takes you to court, you could end up owing her for the services, her court fees, and possible lost wages if she could prove what she would have made on the day she had to go to court. With a signed contract, it wouldn’t take much for her to prove you owe her this money.

That sucks but at this point it sounds more hassle than worth if you fight it, I'd just pay it and move on.
