Hairstylist Drama

Futuremrsn, on August 4, 2020 at 12:24 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 10
Hi everyone!
So it’s 60 days away from my wedding! About a month ago I reached out to my hairstylist because I hadn’t heard from her, and she told me she’d recently left the salon (the one I put a deposit down with) and had started working at another salon nearby. I’m a little annoyed because neither the salon nor the hairstylist notified me at any point of this, and I have a $100 deposit with the salon.

What would you do in this situation? Should I just stick with the original salon I put a deposit down with and use a different stylist? Or should I ask for my deposit back and still work with my original stylist at her new salon? Or should I do something else completely? Thanks in advance!

Do you have a contract with the salon? I doubt they’d give your deposit back so I’d see what they can do for you before asking for that.

I think it would be OK to stick with the salon but then again you would have to see the work of a new hairstylist first.

No contract, it was just a deposit I paid for her services and travel. I didn’t sign anything, so I’m thinking it will be refundable as long as it’s a few weeks before the wedding if it comes to that

That’s true, but then again my wedding hairstyle is fairly simple so I think many stylists can accomplish it hopefully!

I'm a receptionist at a hair salon and if we had a client in your situation we would without a doubt refund them. It just makes sense, you're not gonna get the service done . . so what are they charging for?

If you like the stylist, I'd stick with her. If you've worked with some of the other stylists in the salon and are comfortable with them, then stick with them.

I appreciate that input! I agree, they haven’t reached out so I wonder if they think I forgot about my deposit lol

Oh man, that stinks that no one let you know!

If you're not really tied to that specific stylist then I'd see if they have another one who can do your wedding. Can you go in for a new trial?

I would NOT chance it for our wedding day. I would go with the person you originally wanted. I would also recommend going for a trial hair and make-up look. IMO 😁

This stylist did my hair for a wedding we attended a year ago, but I haven’t had my preview/trial for my own wedding yet. Still thinking about asking for my deposit back from the salon and going with the new salon and same stylist...
