Let's share our RSVP fails. To start off, I have a HUGE family. I'm not close to many of them, so it's not much of a surprise when they decline. The RSVP date was May 31st and many still haven't answered on my mom's side. Today I get a message on Facebook that one of my older cousins isn't coming...

Let's share our RSVP fails.

To start off, I have a HUGE family. I'm not close to many of them, so it's not much of a surprise when they decline. The RSVP date was May 31st and many still haven't answered on my mom's side. Today I get a message on Facebook that one of my older cousins isn't coming because it's her husband's birthday. Wow, didn't realize my afternoon wedding would ruin his whole birthday. What, are they doing a crazy continuous celebration? Just wondering.

I know that's not too bad, but it still stung a bit that she had to use FB when she could have just sent back the card I put a stamp on for this exact purpose. Didn't need to know my wedding was less important than her husband's birthday.

Anyone else have some RSVP fails?

The whole RSVP thing is killing me too. I have a HUGE family and out of respect I pretty much have to invite them. 200 people is wishful thinking. Is it bad that I hope most don't RSVP?

Friend got married last year and she was telling me that one of her guests didn't RSVP, but showed up at the wedding with the RSVP card in hand stating they didn't know what to do with it!

I am just thankful that we bagged the big wedding sending STD and invites to 350 people and them only have like 20 RSVP and then have like 175 show up because my family on both sides are notorious for that crap and will say well girl you know how we do,well here's the Gotcha our wedding was invite only and I was going to do a mass calling and email and if they had not responded within a week the final head count to the venue was going in and my wedding planner was going to be checking names at the door no name no entrance,weddings are about the numbers and money and there was no way I was going to pay for food & drink,etc for 350 & in reality come out with like maybe 75-175 people. Phew dodged a bullet and a major headache.

@samantha I don't think it's bad to hope they don't all come, I have approx 150 on my guest list and part of me knows most of them won't come, mostly because of how the economy is and can't afford tickets, and the rest just don't like to fly (my mom included).

Both FH and I are hoping some of the extended family (that we are bring forced to invite) RSVP no so that we can invite some of the friends that got pushed to the B list..

Theresa P: We didn't know what to say to them. We just added them to the guest list. There is already a lot of drama in their family between my FMIL and her brother/SIL that we decided it would be best not to say anything. We are just seating them on the opposite side of the room as his mom. The best part is his cousin is very shady and we now feel like we need to have someone guard the card box. I hope you fair better.
