So, we are going to FHs friend wedding where we are encouraged to wear costumes. Normally I would say heck no and just dress for a wedding, but FH really wants to dress up. So, we are going to FHs friend wedding where we are encouraged to wear costumes. Normally I would say heck no and just dress for a wedding, but FH really wants to dress up. So, what are some couples costumes that are still appropriate and will give me the opportunity to dress semi-normal? I thought of going as a "vampire" -wearing dark makeup, black dress, and subtle fangs but FH doesn't like it.

Any ideas are appreciated, I just don't want to look super "costumey" if that makes sense.

I'd definitely recommend a costume that could be transformed into normal wedding wear in case nobody else dresses up! I vote for @futuremrs.dyson's idea. Pat and Vanna for the win!

You could also get a "Pink Lady" jacket and throw it over a nice black dress

You could go as Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio... still a costume but wedding appropriate.

I have no suggestions, but actually know a joke on this topic, so here it is (it's a bit crass-- you've been warned).

A couple is going to a Halloween party. The woman goes into the bathroom to change, and come out naked, with just a lemon, tied around her waist, hanging where it does her the most good. He says, "Is that your costume?" she says, "Yep."

Well, HE goes into the bathroom, and comes out with a potato on his manhood! She says, "Is THAT your costume?" He says, "Yeah-- i figured, if you cold be a sourpuss, I could be a dictator."

You could just do something dark like that and just throw on a witches hat. Maybe some dramatic make up if you really want to get into it. He can do a cape and wand and go as a sorcerer.

Just bring a piece of paper that says "Nudist on Strike" with yarn around it so you can put it around your neck if you want. Then wear normal wedding attire.

I did a retro Minnie Mouse last year - retro red polka dot halter dress, mouse ears, and white lace gloves. If you get there and no one else is in costume, just remove the ears and maybe the gloves. FH could do the same with a black suit, red tie, white gloves, and ears.

I really love the idea of Westly and Buttercup, too - hands down, one of my favorite movies!

Zombies? Then you can dress in normal clothes and just do make up.

Do you watch Bob's burgers? I really want to dress up as Tina and have FH dress up as Jimmy Pesto, but we will be honeymooning over halloween!

Any goth couple could still pass as a wedding guest, just sleek slinky black wardrobe.

Animal ears on a normal set of clothes. You can take them off after you've had your fill of festivities.

    A Disney prince and princess?

A friend of mine is doing a Masquerade wedding next year around Halloween. We're all getting masks but otherwise dressing like a couple going to a formal wedding.
