Halloween wedding? Yes or no?

Danielle, on April 2, 2019 at 10:35 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 46

So my SO and I are kind of "dark". Halloween has always been the best time of year for us.We were thinking of doing a manor venue wedding with slightly dark details (black and dark wine colors) on the eve of Halloween 2020. All my close friends who know us were not surprised AT ALL. However Im wondering if this would seem "tacky" to other people? Like our co-workers/bosses ect. The wedding will be smallish (75-100 guests) and i guest i could easily do a different day. Please give me your GENTLE opinion.

Thanks!

Halloween is my favorite holiday and would absolutely not find it tacky! I think there are ways to make it more classy and wedding like if that’s what you wanted but I say you do you - there are always going to be people who don’t like something about your day.

I love the idea! It doesn’t have to be “cheesy” - think elegant Halloween wedding! It can look very nice if done right Smiley smile good luck!

If that’s your style, then do it! It sounds really cool! You can definitely find great inspiration on Pinterest so it doesn’t look tacky at all

Honestly, I wouldn't, but, I am also not a fan of having a non-wedding themed wedding. Although...having gotten my knee-jerk reaction out of the way...Halloween is about dressing up, and who knows? It might be fun to have a costume party wedding or have all the women wear past bridesmaids/bridal gowns...

"Excuse me, ladies and gentlemen, while we interrupt this great costume party to have a wedding..."

    Yeah...

    No.

My first thought was "No", I explored it a little bit, and my final thought is "No."

I don’t see anything wrong with it. Do you plan on wearing a black dress?

I’m doing it! I just started a forum chat titled Halloween weddings! Go check out what I said and my Pinterest pins I posted for some inspiration.
I’m doing a Victorian soft gothic theme for mine. Black and gold, gilded skulls, dark florals. Gonna be awesome.
My fiancé and I aren’t traditional but are doing a few things here and there in the name of tradition for the family. But Halloween is amazing! My date is 10/30/2020

I would freakin’ love it!!!! It’ll not seem cheesy at all if you have it in a manor. Very classy and slightly creepy. I want to go!

Not weird at all. Just keep it classy. (Unless you like cheese, they keep it cheesy!) Do consider that people with small children might not attend if it's at night, or if the children are there, they might be dour about missing Halloween. And consider how having your anniversary on Halloween is going to be, in the future. It sounds like it's going to be awesome! My first wedding anniversary was around St. Patrick's day, and that got surprisingly annoying, in terms of celebrating.

Halloween is also one of my favorite holidays! It wasn't my vibe to throw a halloween wedding myself BUT I would totally eat it up if I went to one. This sounds like so much fun! I would find dark and grungy wedding more appealing than a different themed wedding. So long as it's classy.. Like I wouldn't have people dress up in costumes but rather maybe say it's a vampy-vibe.

I explored the idea. I just wanted to Halloween theme it. Everyone dress up. Halloween music. My fiancee was like absolutely not. He is very traditional. I am not. So i love the idea of it. And think it will be lots of fun.

Your wedding should reflect who you are as a couple. I say go for it! You dont have to have pumpkins and witches everywhere. You could easily do a halloween theme and keep it super elegant!

Thank you for your honest opinion! I’m not into doing it overly “themed” and not with costumes for sure. Smiley smile

Maybe black touches or dark grey. Or ivory. I know it doesn’t matter but it’s not my first wedding. But not all black for sure.

Only three guests have kids and they are all under 3 at the time of the wedding. My son will be 11 and honestly he has kind of own grown the truck or treating as it is. But definitely something to consider. Also should really think about future anniversaries. The thought occurred to me but I have not given much thought on it. Thank you fur the in put!
