So my SO and I are kind of "dark". Halloween has always been the best time of year for us.We were thinking of doing a manor venue wedding with slightly dark details (black and dark wine colors) on the eve of Halloween 2020. All my close friends who know us were not surprised AT ALL. However Im wondering if this would seem "tacky" to other people? Like our co-workers/bosses ect. The wedding will be smallish (75-100 guests) and i guest i could easily do a different day. Please give me your GENTLE opinion.

Thanks!

I'm actually having an April 2020 ceremony/reception, but I am signing my marriage license and having a little party next thursday, on halloween. My soon to be husband and I have spent 9 Halloween's together (I'm only 20) and it is our favorite holiday, we really go all out for it. But we were just engaged in july and thought that Halloween was too close for a big wedding and that people (my family specifically) would frown upon it anyway. So we decided to do our own little thing on halloween, and have our ceremony and reception on our original anniversary in april. That way our next Halloweens will be extra special, AND we can still celebrate the day we first met ❤

Go for it! If it encompasses who you are, then there's no issue.

I think it would be fine to have a 9pm to midnight or whatever party on All Hallows Eve. For 30-40 people, with whatever usual party food you choose. ....... And have your wedding on a day when all who have close ties with you won't have to give up trick or treating with their kids, or younger brothers and sisters, or grandchildren. I do not know your culture or religion, but for some it is a religious holiday. For Roman Catholics, the Feast of Obligation, with a mass, starts at sundown Oct 31. Services then at Vespers, mass the next day is expected. And Lutherans, Anglicans, Methodists, and others I cannot name, consider it a holy observance too. On all Saints itself, Nov 1, many visit the graves of lost loved ones. And the night before, aside from trick or treating, is spent cooking and getting ready for family visits, and cemetery trips. A day when they would have to choose between going to your wedding, or avoiding imagery that conflicts with their religion by declining, much as they would like to go. Without a meal, and well past the dinner hour, a simple Halloween party does not cost much. And missing it for a religious holiday is no big deal. Save the big party of the wedding for a time when it would not present a conflict. Unless no one you are inviting would be affected. If that is the case, have the wedding you want, whenever you want, and combine the two.

Honestly, it sounds like a blast. Especially if it fits your style.

This sounds amazing! And very true to how you see yourself as a couple. We are planning to get married in the fall and while not having a Halloween theme, I plan to incorporate some pumpkins in the decor. I toyed with the idea of getting married Halloween weekend, but my FH isn't into it too much and a friend of mine throws a huge bash each year and I didn't want it to take away from that.
